One thing I’ve noticed getting older is that your priorities with money start to shift
At 40+ I’m actually pretty low maintenance in a lot of areas people assume women spend loads on
I don’t get my brows done - genuinely got annoyed with them getting it wrong or blaming me for how they naturally grow 🤣
I don’t get my nails done - they are now healthier than ever and I’m not panicking about breaking them at the gym
I don’t do eyelash extensions unless I have a photoshoot booked - I actually also never wear mascara because I hate how it feels
I’ve never dyed my hair - apart from that one time aged 17 when I tip died the ends red 🤣
I don’t buy expensive face creams - most of them sell dreams! Stick to water, good and never sleep with your make-up on!
I stay away from Botox and fillers - I’m so scared of needles, I actually did a dry needling course for rehab and never actually used it on clients
I don’t drink alcohol - i’ve never struggled with alcohol; but as I got older I realised it really wasn’t adding any particular value to my life. And if ever I did drink, I always felt like I couldn’t function and got crayy brain fog
And I’ve never been interested in having a flashy car payment - I actually drive a 14 year old car… at the time my Grandad was thinking of buying it for himself. But it suited my needs better 🤣
But like any 40 something year old… I do spend money
Just maybe not on the things people expect
I’ll happily invest in a fitness coach - I have had the same one on and off for almost 9yrs… she prepped my for my bikini bb comps and now she helps me midlife
A business mentor - transparently it’s been 4 yrs!!
Looking after my dental health & good food
Sleep, recovery & lower stress
Things that save me time and energy 🙌🏽
Even small choices like driving to the gym, walking when I can, or taking the train so I can work instead of sitting in traffic
Because at this stage of life I’m less interested in looking like I’ve got everything together…
…and far more interested in actually feeling strong, healthy, clear headed and in control of my time
That’s the investment that pays the biggest return
