It can’t just be me can it?

I really disliked games, sports, P.E. whatever you want to call it in my latter teens. So much so that I’d get my parents to write me sick notes so I didn’t have to do it.

The times that I did I’d put in minimal effort and I’d shy away from wanting to be involved.

I just hadn’t found anything I really enjoyed so everything felt like a bit of punishment and exercise/sports became a negative experience for me.

Need I say more? Is it me or is this sort of thing incredibly irritating to see? We need to stop this s**tty thing 💩

Jay’s top tips for exercise!

In my experience the biggest part of training my clients is teaching them how to facilitate exercise to fit into their lifestyle. Everyone is different and there is no one size fits all as much as some trainers would have you think.

Waiting for it to be less busy never really happens so knuckling down to carve out that time for you is really important.

My best advice would be to start off small, keep some sort of routine as best you can and try and stick to it. Make it almost too easy to accomplish and gradually increase over time if you’re able to.

This just makes sense if you ask me.

Real people, real s**t they tell me that is the sort of thing any trainer wants to hear. It’s just so much rewarding knowing that people’s day to day lives are so much better because of what exercise and improved behaviours has given them.

You won’t find any transformation pictures here.

The “I’m too busy” people.

I hear you. Life is busy, work is busy, social life is busy, there’s lots to do and never enough time 🕰️

I hear it a lot and part of my job is helping people understand what’s realistic for them. Don’t worry if you haven’t got the hour you want but you do have half an hour, just do that.

If you don’t have half an hour but you’ve got 15 mins, do that!

For many using time as an excuse is using that as your barrier to entry. Maybe you need to lower that barrier and set yourself realistic expectations that you can deliver for yourself.

We did it during Covid.

I can almost guarantee you know someone who pays for a gym membership that isn’t using it at all or very rarely. There’s normally a reason behind it and in my experience it tends to be one of the reasons I put in the post.

A pair of adjustable dumbbells (second hand) of Facebook marketplace might set you back anywhere from £30-£120. The amount of work you can do with these is insane. Also if you look after them you’ll keep them for a very long time!

Felt cute, probably won’t delete later.

A couple of weeks ago put together a fantastic in-house comp to raise money for a defibrillator. People came together for a good cause, did some fitness and had a laugh doing it.

Thanks for organising 🙏
