Shake your Buddhi

Shake your Buddhi Yoga is what you make of it, whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. It doesn't matter. Do it because it feels good and take what you need. Word. Peace

Buddhi is a feminine Sanskrit noun derived from the same root as the more familiar masculine form Buddha ~ to be awake, to understand, to know ~
Buddhi denotes an aspect of mind that is higher than the rational mind and that is attracted to Brahman ~ to "Truth" (sat) or "Reality" (dharma). I've been practicing Yoga for years and have always dreamed I would become a teacher one day. This year I'm going to do it and I want you to come too! My aim is to learn as much as I can by going to as many classes, with different styles and teachers as possible to learn through practice and from people with a passion for yogi living. I want to share the knowledge I pick up along the way... so I'll be posting awesome informative articles, books, videos etc. I'm also going to blog about the classes I go to at - http://buddhithroughyoga.wordpress.com

Should be fun, thanks for checking out my page!

This is the time to be slow

Lie low to the wall {floor}
Until the bitter weather passes

Try, as best you can, not to let
The wire brush of doubt
Scrape from your heart
All sense of yourself
And your hesitant light

If you remain generous
Time will come good
And you will find your feet
Again on fresh pastures of promise
Where the air will be kind
And blushed with beginning

When will the moment you DESERVE some real rest actually arrive?

Firstly. What is rest? Rest is doing nothing. Simple. It’s not reading, watching TV or exercising - although these things are relaxing. It’s not catching up with friends or cleaning or planning or binging.

Rest is not even sleeping.
Sleeping is sleeping. Rest is doing “f**k all” to quote the sage Mickey Flannigan 😂

When will it be enough?

Will you ever get it all done?

Until then (never) are you willing to live in an exhausted, unhappy body-mind?

Striving for the unreachable, grinding through your life like a drone...

When will it be enough?

When your nervous system implodes with anxiety & depression, when your heart gives up it’s second by second support because it can’t keep up with what you put it through, when your immune system gets so confused it starts attacking itself because it doesn’t know how to look after you anymore, or when inflammation causes any number of serious health problems because of an ultimately mad lifestyle that isn’t built for humans?

When will it be enough?

We must inhale, if we are to exhale - Joan Halifax

Reasons to Rest, a letter from Mr Curly...

“Dear Vasco,

In response to your question “what is worth doing and what is worth having?” I would like to say simply this:

It is worth doing nothing and having a rest.

In spite of all the difficulty it may cause, you MUST rest Vasco - or you will become RESTLESS.

I believe the world is sick with exhaustion and dying of restlessness. While it is true that periods of weariness help the spirit to grow, the prolonged ongoing state of fatigue to which our world seems to be rapidly adapting is ultimately soul destroying and earth destroying. The ecology of evil flourishes and love cannot take root in this sad situation.

Tiredness is one of our strongest, most noble and instructive feelings. It is an important aspect of our CONSCIENCE and must be heeded or else we will not survive. When you are tired you must HAVE that feeling and you must act upon it sensibly — you MUST rest like the trees and animals do.

Yet tiredness has become a matter of shame! This is a dangerous development. Tiredness has become the most suppressed feeling in the world. Everywhere we see people overcoming their exhaustion and pushing on with intensity — cultivating the great mass mania which all around is making life so hard and ugly — so cruel and meaningless — so utterly graceless — and being congratulated for overcoming it and pushing it deep down inside themselves like as if it were some virtue to do this.

And of course Vasco, you know what happens when such strong and natural feelings are denied — they turn into the most powerful and bitter poisons with dreadful consequences. We live in a world of these consequences and wonder why we are so unhappy ?

So I gently urge you Vasco, do as we do in Curly Flat — learn to curl up & rest — feel your noble tiredness — learn about it and make a generous place for it in your life and enjoyment will surely follow. I repeat:

It is worth doing nothing and having a rest.

Yours sleepily, Mr Curly”

This poem, by Wendy Cope, came my way year or two ago.

I love it so much and I feel it’s the perfect way to quietly slink off this platform for a month... 🍊

You can contact me via phone, email, website, in class or in person if you’re lucky 😜

Wishing you the most grounded, restful and connected autumnal shedding of skins one could hope for 🍂

Hey friends, I’ll be taking some time of the socials this October and I’m so excited about it. I plan to be social media free by the new year, too.

So this is a part of the process... a little experiment with my squad...

I’ve put together a challenge for anyone and everyone to come along for the ride, whatever your process looks like. It might simply be curiosity and information gathering or you might make a commitment to limit or even black-out your social media usage...

It’s such a spacious place to be, I do it every year !

Set yourself some boundaries and commit to actually living your life, doing all those things you keep putting off, take back some control of your precious time.

We’ve such a short lifespan, phones are not our friend!

When your body feels like it’s not yours, a soupy shadow, a heavy weight that your head has to carry around with you... this is a sad disconnection.

Embodied movement infused with tenderness, curiosity and awareness has a way of reconnecting you brain with your bones and tissues like nothing else.

It’s the only body you’ll ever live in, why not make friends with your skin, limbs, lumps and bumps?

Loving yourself in the age of capitalism is radical.

Come and move your body tomorrow (Friday) at 8am (or purchase the recording for the weekend)

We’ll welcome life into the chest and upper body through gliding and sweeping gestures of floaty love 💚

A girl in a field of sunflowers... 🌻

Just wanted to make it really clear, is a non-judgmental place of self-inquiry and learning about your relationship to social media... there’s no expectations, you make the rules up for yourself and your intention might simply be to contemplate the role it plays in your life...

I would say, if like my friend you feel uncomfortable and resistant to the idea of stepping away from socials for a month, maybe it’s healthy to ask yourself why... ?

What narratives have become truth for you around your usage and what ruts might you be stuck in without even realising? Making space for critical thinking and questioning our own biases is mature and intelligent.

This is also yoga.

I’m excited to begin the process together on 29 Sept to have a chat, not just about the negatives but the incredible aspects of having a huge network of people and information at our fingertips. It’s not all bad!

Join me for a few weeks of enhanced social media self-awareness at the least...

If you had more time, what would you choose to be doing with it?

I doubt the answer is spend more time on your phone...

I’m conducting a little social (media) experiment and I’d love for you to get on board with me!

For the month of October we will explore our relationship to social media and our phones/screens in general through a process of self-inquiry...

Knowledge is power. And most of us, myself included, feel powerless in the battle for our own headspace when it comes to screen time.

I’ll send out questions to ponder, resources like apps to help you limit your usage, podcasts and TED talks and a practice or two.

The aim is to develop more self awareness, gain an in-depth understanding of our intentions, needs and habits while working to place a healthier structure and set clear boundaries around the usage of these robots we carry around with us - EVERYWHERE.

These robots that know EVERYTHING about us.

These robots that are controlled by big corporations who deceive us into thinking we have more choice than we actually do... let’s take back some self-control.

These phones & screens are really just a widely accepted form of dissociation and addiction.

This is a free collaborative to join, simply sign up on my website and on 29 Sept I will send out the first email...

You’ll receive a max of 5 emails in total from me over the month of October and there’s no obligation to do anything other than receive the info and ponder it.

Some of you may choose to do a full social media black-out (with me) and some of you may simply choose to commit to less time online or boundaried usage...

Either way I’ve no doubt it’ll help you be more aware of yourself and how your life is affected by the digital realm...
