Since one of the 1st nurses to attend the annual meeting, Dr Samantha Walker, initiated a BSACI nurses group in the early 2000's, the BSACI Nurses in Allergy group has gone from strength to strength, contributing more each year to the organisation. This year is no exception, with an increasing number of standard operating procedures published online, a social media presence and a whole programme of talks and practical demonstrations at meeting 2016. Regional Primary Care Allergy Training Days

In 2010 the BSACI set up a programme of educational meetings with the aim of encouraging a dialogue between primary care workers and their local allergy specialists. This programme has supported many meetings all over the UK from which the feedback has been universally positive.

The meetings aim is to highlight common allergy presentations with case based discussions. The days could also cover issues such as what can be dealt with within primary care, referral pathways and how local allergy clinics work. This has led to better communication and awareness of local and national resources.

Please see below for testimonials by a course organiser and a GP attendee to get a better idea of what's involved. We are generously supported this year by Mead Johnson Nutrition and Nutricia, who enable us to provide a bursary to fund these training days. If you are a BSACI member and wish to organise a training day, please email marie@bsaci.org for more information. Please note that a minimum of 4 months notice is required in order that the necessary application process can be completed.

If you are a primary care worker and would like to register your interest in allergy, please contact our Training and Education Coordinator Marie Gibbs on marie@bsaci.org .
