Organ Donation Week, 22-28 September 2025
Running from Monday 22 – Sunday 28 September, Organ Donation Week is a celebration of organ and tissue donation and transplantation which saves and transforms hundreds of lives each year.
More people than ever are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant, as demand continues to exceed the number of donated organs available.
While the law changed to an opt-out system in 2023, no one is automatically added to the NHS Organ Donor Register. Unless you add your organ donation decision, no record will be held for you.
The decision is yours but it’s important you record it and then share it with those close to you. You can opt-in, opt-out, or amend your decision at any time.
One person can save up to nine lives as an organ donor, and even more if they also donate tissue.
Support Organ Donation Week by confirming your decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register at www.organdonationni.info/register-now or call 0300 123 23 23.

Are you aged up to 25 years and starting university or further education?

If yes, protect yourself against meningitis and septicaemia.

Make sure you have had the MenACWY vaccination or get it before you start the academic year or soon after.

Meningitis and septicaemia are very serious and require urgent attention. Know the symptoms and if you think you’ve got either, get help immediately and make sure your fellow students know to look out for you and each other.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, marking the beginning of a month-long campaign culminating in World Mental Health Day on 10th October.

Many of our patients are struggling with feelings of anxiety and low mood. This affects young people, older people, all sections of society. Global events, the cost of living, social media, family pressures, interpersonal relationships and excess screen time can take their toll on our mental health.

Getting the basics right - getting enough sleep, avoiding excess alcohol (a depressant) and drugs, eating well, connecting with friends, having boundaries around screen-time, getting outside in nature and moving your body, go a long way to maintaining your mental fitness.

However, if you are struggling, we want to hear from you. Your GP and mental health practitioner are here to help you.

Brought to you by the Derry GP Federation, on behalf of your GP practice.

🩷Important notice 💙

We at Feeny Medical Practice welcome everyone!

As the children go back to school, some aren’t ready and maybe panicked by the thought of the new adventure. Getting into routine, buses can be missed, lifts mixed up and phones not charged.

Please tell your child that we are a “Safe Place”. (Both our main site at Main Street Feeny and our branch at Chapel Road Dungiven )

If your child is worried about walking home, misses their lift or needs to call someone they can drop into us, and we will call a responsible adult for them.

There is no judgement, just a friendly face, and they can feel SAFE!
Please share and tell everyone.
