🎉 We’re officially FIVE! 🥳

Today marks five amazing years since we took over M Shepherd Optometrists and opened our doors — and what a journey it’s been! From launching in the middle of the pandemic (not quite the party start we imagined!) to growing into a thriving practice filled with wonderful patients and an even more wonderful team, we couldn’t be more grateful. 💛

A massive thank you to everyone who supports us, recommends us, and trusts us with your eyecare and eyewear — you truly make it all worthwhile. 👓✨

Not a normal week in the office this week. Thank you to my wonderful colleagues and friends Karen and Paula for making my birthday extra special! 🎂🎈 They treated me to a day off, snuck in to decorate, and even surprised me with some beautiful gifts — and can we take a moment to appreciate how perfectly they nailed the birthday card? 😂

We ventured into the city yesterday and tried the new Mowgli restaurant — a big hit all round and a definite thumbs up from us! 👍

We’re back to work from 9am tomorrow and looking forward to seeing all our lovely patients. Happy Sunday! 👓💖

🏃‍♀️ A little update from behind the scenes… ☀️

Last weekend I took on the Lincoln Half Marathon, my first event in nearly a year after a long stretch of injury rehab and cautious training. I didn’t even let the steep hill at mile 9 spoil the fun! It felt amazing to escape the consulting room for a day and soak up some fresh air—yes, even the sunshine made a rare appearance!

For those who’ve noticed me hobbling around the practice lately… thank you for pretending not to notice and not teasing me too much 😅 I’m thrilled with a 1:56 finish time and hopeful this marks the return of my running adventures—and maybe a few more tales to bore you with (I promise to keep it brief!).

👁️ A little update from Long Stratton Eyecare 💙

I’m not exactly camera-polished, but I wanted to pop on and speak to you face-to-face (well, as much as you can on social media) to explain a small change to our hours.

We’re temporarily closing on Fridays while we navigate a short-term staffing challenge. It’s not a decision we’ve taken lightly, but it’s important to make sure the team aren’t overstretched and that we continue delivering the consistent, high-quality care you deserve.

Here are our current opening hours:
- Monday: 9:00–1:00 & 2:00–5:00
- Tuesday: 9:00–1:00 & 2:00–7:00
- Wednesday: 9:00–1:00 & 2:00–5:00
- Thursday: 9:00–1:00 & 2:00–5:00
- Friday: Closed for now
- Saturday: By appointment only—please book in advance

We’re working hard behind the scenes to get back to full hours as soon as possible. I just felt it was only right to let everyone know what’s going on and share the reasoning behind the change. Thank you so much for bearing with us—I’m trying my hardest to get it sorted.

Silmo, day two: crepes, caffeine, and colourful chaos. 👓✨

Yesterday started with crepes, berries, and coffee in central Paris—fuel for another round of frame-spotting. We headed back to the exhibition and spent the day exploring even more eyewear wonders, catching up with fellow practice owners, and reconnecting with brilliant colleagues across the industry.

It wasn’t just about frames—it was about faces. The conversations, the laughter, the shared passion for all things optical. The energy was incredible, with so many people deeply passionate about the future of the eyewear industry. We talked advancements in frame design, cutting-edge materials, and even how AI could play a role in diagnostics within eye care. It’s exciting, inspiring, and just a little bit mind-blowing.

And yes, there were a lot of frame selfies. I can only apologise in advance for when more of those inevitably make it onto the page. The brands we’ve identified are the kind you can reglaze again and again… though let’s be honest—you’ll love them so much, you’ll probably want another pair anyway 😉 And with our Eyeplan membership pricing, they’ll be a bit of a bargain too.

We’re starting our Monday early to squeeze out a few final drops of inspiration before heading back to Norfolk.
