Been up since 3.45am thanks to chemo steroids, as much as it’s a pain in the bum dealing with the side effects of chemotherapy & radiotherapy I’m grateful to be able to receive it. It’s saving my life. My little things I do each day to create my tomorrow all revolve around mouthwashes, dental care & sprays to protect my saliva glands, because my cancer is in my mouth, and the radiography thins the tissue in your mouth, leaving you open to ulcers and infection. I’ve got 17 more sessions to go, I’ve completed 13 & I can still eat normal food if it’s moist. The only thing that’s a little bit sore today is my throat when I swallow, so I’m gargling with salt water. Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing keep going, find the blessings & focus on them. Love you all, I do see your comments it’s just very difficult to reply to everyone especially with so many of you on my fb page, but I do see you all and I’m grateful to all of you for your support. I’m determined to get to the bottom of this 🤣 Who is Albert that’s evidently been haunting the records office? 🤷‍♀️ And now it seems he’s gone walkabout onto the ward I was on! Question is, did he know I’m a Medium? But he vanished the moment I caught his eye, and he looked shocked to see me, and probably he was shocked that I could see him, so no he probably wasn’t there because of me, maybe it was a time slip? I think we need to know what Albert’s been getting up to in the records office!!! Agreed???? Tag the girls in your comments hopefully they’ll see this post 🙏

It’s zooming by! I’ve got 6 hours or so before I can go home, so I’ve brought food and water, and mouthwashes too. I don’t like chemo because I don’t sleep for three nights after it, and I don’t go to the loo either because it shuts down my bowels 🤢🤮🥴 it is what it is though, we just have to get on with it!

🌿 Medieval luck rituals for the New Year 🌿

Keeping the hearth fire alive
The fire was not allowed to go out as the year turned. A living fire meant life, warmth, and protection continued into the new year.

Salt at thresholds
Salt was sprinkled at doorways, hearths, or windows to guard against illness, bad luck, and wandering spirits.

Candle blessing
A single candle was lit at the turn of the year. People watched how it burned, believing the flame carried signs for the months ahead.

Carrying a charm
Coins, stones, herbs, bones, or written prayers were kept on the body for luck and protection. These were often sewn into clothing.

Washing with fresh or blessed water
Hands and faces were washed to cleanse away the old year’s misfortune and start anew.

Spoken charms and prayers
Short phrases or blessings were spoken aloud, quietly, often learned by heart and passed down through families.

Offerings by the hearth or door
Bread, ale, or food was left to keep household spirits, ancestors, or unseen forces favourable.

No work begun on New Year’s Day
Starting heavy labour was believed to set a hard year in motion. The day was kept calm if possible.

For medieval people, luck wasn’t hopeful thinking.
It was something you maintained, day by day, through small acts done properly.

Four more weeks of chemotherapy & radiotherapy, I’ll be glad when it’s done! Ignore my nails by the way I didn’t want to go in a busy salon before Christmas in case I picked up a bug!!
