Poorly Nora had been cut free from plastic netting at some time in her short life but the person who originally removed the netting didn't see all of it. The remaining netting has become embedded in her skin as she has grown. Today she was brought into our hospital after being found asleep in open ground. She can no longer walk without being in extreme pain as the razor-thin netting cuts into her. She is severely dehydrated, restricting our actions and is now currently in ICU waiting to undergo surgery. Wish Nora luck!

Hedgehogs are not easy to remove from netting so always go to your nearest rescue centre or a vet. They will remove the netting under sedation or anaesthetic if needed and make sure it has all gone. Our protocols ensure that a hedgehog is observed for several days after the netting is removed to ensure there are no serious complications from the restriction.
