✨👟 Sensory Wins & Self-Validation: The Converse Story 👟✨
As a late-diagnosed Autistic & ADHD girlie, I’ve been having so many aha! moments lately — the kind that make everything finally click.
For example… I’ve always been very particular (okay, protective 😅) over my stuff. When I was about 10, I saved for an entire year to buy my first ever pair of Converse — black with red stitching, my two fave colours. ❤️🖤 They cost £32 back then (wild, right?!) and I was absolutely dead set on them.
Now, how did my impulsive ADHD brain manage to save that long? Because hyperfocus and motivation, baby! 🔥
I finally bought them on holiday in Newquay, Cornwall, and they instantly became my personality shoes. I wore them everywhere.
Then, life happened. I got older, started masking more, and stopped wearing what I really liked. Fast forward to a couple of years ago — I bought myself a new pair. Not quite the same, but just as comfy, and they’ve become my sensory-safe, happy shoes.
That moment reminded me of something powerful:
We deserve to reconnect to the things that make us feel like us — whether it’s shoes, clothes, textures, colours, or styles that feel good on our skin and our soul. 💖
For my fellow AuDHD lovelies — buying the same comfy clothes or shoes in multiple colours? Totally valid. That’s not weird, it’s regulation.
🪡 Reconnect to what you love. Reclaim your comfort. And let your true self step out — in style. 👟✨
