Good morning 🌞 it's another cold and sunny day in Manchester. Hope you're all doing well!

I want to talk about overthinking today.

Lots of us can experience this and it can be really tough to deal with sometimes.

If we have a tendency to overthink, can often be because we find it uncomfortable to feel scared, and so we try and push that feeling away by trying to work out all our problems in our heads.

One way to help with this is to try and slow down that need to fix feeling scared.

Can you sit with that scared feeling? Maybe try and locate it in your body.

Can you tell yourself that it's ok to feel scared? Feeling scared is natural and part of being human.

Can you feel that fear for even a few seconds before you rush to try and fix it with your thoughts?

This may be confusing or scary to do, but please be patient with yourself.

Give yourself time and love and see if you can feel before you try and fix and analyse.

Take care 😊

Hi Everyone,

September is here and summer may be over but the sun is still shining so you don't need to get too down in the dumps about dark nights just yet!

Kids are back to school and so are teachers and support staff and it's also a big change for parents whose children are going back to school, so if any of you are feeling a certain way about this big change after the summer break, please just know that it's completely normal.

Can you sit with that feeling rather than pushing it down or away?

Can you acknowledge it and locate it in your body and take a deep breath and know that you're going to be ok?

Take care

❤️

Sunday thoughts: I hope you’ve all had restful/fun/exciting weekend or whatever kind of weekend you needed. Sometimes we feel like we have to live up to the expectations of others and be seen to be doing a particular kind of thing in order to feel validated by others. My suggestion? Why not take a moment to reflect on what makes you happy and content. If you could do anything you wanted without fear of judgement or disapproval from others, what would you do? If you can’t think of something you like, what did you used to enjoy doing as a child? Connect with that part of you and see how it feels. If you don’t do this anymore, what’s stopping you? It’s good to do things we enjoy and get in touch with our inner child ☺️☺️☺️ you are loved, you are enough, you are not broken. ❤️

As the Bank Holiday draws to a close: take the time to get present. You don’t need to worry or try and predict how the week ahead is going to go. Back to work or back to school after six weeks off. The only time that is real is right here and now as you read these words. Everything else can wait. Any predictions or worries you may slip into are only that - predictions- not facts. Just thoughts. Just because we think it, doesn’t make it true.
We never truly know how things will be in the future it’s just thinking in our own heads. Let the days and weeks come as they please and take each moment as it comes. I know this can be easier said than done, but even remembering this or catching ourselves trying to predict the future or imagine how we’re going to feel in the future, will help to bring us back to the present. Give yourself the chance to just turn up and see how it goes. You are loved. You have value. You are not broken. You are enough ❤️

Sunday thoughts: I’d like to talk about intrusive thoughts. We all have them sometimes. They can be scary if we take them seriously and don’t talk about them. They usually start with a a “What if…”. They are unwanted thoughts and they are just that- thoughts.

Having scary or unwanted thoughts doesn’t make us scary or bad or unhealthy people, it just means we have thoughts sometimes that we don’t want. If we see them as purely thoughts, innocent creations in our minds then we can go about our day knowing that there’s nothing bad about us, nothing lacking in us.

The only time these thoughts can cause us pain is if we bottle them up, take them seriously and believe that we want to do these things. The truth is we don’t, they’re just thoughts. I had one the other day where I was at the supermarket and thought “what if I push over this pile of canned food” I told my partner and she said she had had the exact same thought and we both laughed about it! We normalised it for each other and you can do this for yourself too!

Everyone has funny or strange thoughts sometimes and it’s not always so easy to laugh them off, but if you can remember that they’re only thoughts and mean nothing about your life, you’ll see them for what they are a lot sooner ☺️ you are not broken. You have nothing lacking in you. You’re just a wonderful human trying their best.
