Got no time for dinner? Try this quick Chicken with Young Cabbage recipe! 🍽️

Ingredients:
- Chicken breasts (sliced if preferred)
- 1 small head of young cabbage (shredded)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- Chive or half a small onion
- 1 tablespoon olive oil, avocado oil, or ghee butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro for garnish

Instructions:
1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
2. Sauté minced garlic until fragrant.
3. Add chicken breast strips and cook until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes).
4. Add shredded cabbage to the skillet and cook until tender yet crisp (about 5-7 minutes), stirring occasionally.
5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Recently I was asked what is the Keto diet. I will try to answer this question in this post. As we know, carbohydrates are the main source of fuel for our bodies, and it is commonly believed that sugars provide energy, but not only them. People on the keto diet derive energy from fats! This happens because when fats are burned, the liver begins to produce compounds called ketones, which our bodies effortlessly use as very efficient energy, which is why supporters of this diet feel more energetic and have a better sense of well-being!❤️

Why am I writing all this? Because I want to present my point of view on the keto diet. I know there are as many opponents as supporters, but the truth is that the diet is an individual matter for each of us. I tried diets where I ate more proteins and carbohydrates, but unfortunately, they didn’t favor my gut bacterial flora, so I created more problems for myself than I improved my health, and I gained weight because I didn’t see results and returned to bad habits like chips, crisps, and wine quite often (empty calories and sugar). The truth is that both diets involve the same reduction in carbohydrates or fats, and the most important factor is YOU! Your body will tell you what’s best for you. Both diets require changing eating habits and the products you buy. I know you’ll say that diets are expensive, but they don’t have to be. You can buy cheaper meat than super-quality steak; there’s chicken, turkey, offal, and fish, add more vegetables, and the price changes immediately, and your belly is full. The most important thing is to plan everything well, cook yourself because processed products contain a lot of preservatives. So step away from the shelves with ready-made, frozen meals and start treating yourself like a winner, and after all, champions eat like Olympians!

Why did I really want to switch to a ketogenic diet? I reached a point in my life where I began to feel changes in my body. At first, I attributed it to being 36 years old, almost 40, but I quickly dismissed that thought because, after all, 36 isn’t old, and I should feel better instead of constantly tired, sluggish, and lacking energy. I had frequent headaches, muscle and joint pains, and my belly started to grow like never before. I noticed something strange on my body, which turned out to be cellulite. My gut was my worst enemy; I often experienced intestinal colic, which was unbearable. My skin was dull with constant issues, and my nails were weak. In general, I felt awful enough to tell myself that I needed to change. I tried conventional diets, but eating five meals a day in large quantities totaling 2000kcal wasn’t for me. I wasn’t used to eating so often, and working from home didn’t help. Constantly sitting in front of the computer took its toll on my legs and hips. Fortunately, I came across a fantastic book that allowed me to ease into the keto diet and feel better. I’m only at the beginning, but I already see results in terms of my mood and energy. The main thing I changed was the products I consumed. Of course, this doesn’t mean I significantly changed my approach to eating, by which I mean I didn’t stop eating meat or desserts - NO! I just started buying organic products from farmers. I’m incredibly lucky to live in northern England where farming is popular, and I can easily buy higher-quality vegetables and meat. Of course, don’t expect to get organic watermelon in the winter on the islands! So what to do? Simply change your menu according to seasonal vegetables, which will allow you to cook delicious and fresh dishes. Additionally, I added more fish to my menu. I found a fantastic company that sells fresh fish, and I always choose those that are popular in my region, and again, the universe blessed me because I live near the coast.
