Say hello to Jane ✨

What started with a visit to the shop turned into something much more. After meeting Jo and instantly loving the space, Jane became part of the team and has grown with it ever since.

Her treatments are all about a holistic approach, from reflexology to Ayurvedic facials and massage, helping you feel relaxed, balanced and restored.

But what really makes it special is the environment. A team that supports each other through everything, plenty of laughs along the way, and a shared goal of caring for every person who walks through the door.

It’s more than treatments. It’s a community 💛

Comment COLLAGEN and I’ll share my practitioner-grade favourites 👈

Is Collagen miracle or myth?

You may have seen Doctors and Pharmacists on social media, claiming that collagen supplements cannot work. They talk about the fact collagen is a protein and therefore it will be broken down into amino acids during the digestive process.

They are not wrong about this digestive process but I have looked into this a great deal and there is much more to it.

There is evidence that specific collagen peptides powders, taken at a dosage of 8 to 10g a day have benefits for…

✨ skin elasticity and hydration (but not wrinkles)
✨ joints
✨ connective tissue support

But how? Here is the short version, but please take a look at the detail in my blog (link in bio or comment COLLAGEN and I will send to you).

So yes, collagen is broken down during digestion, but it provides the exact amino acids your body needs to make collagen, and small peptides that can stimulate collagen-producing cells.

It’s not an overnight miracle, but I believe it can be a very useful tool, especially for women in midlife, low protein diets, and active bodies.

For best results:

✔ hydrolysed collagen peptides
✔ vitamin C either in the product or included in diet
✔ adequate total protein
✔ resistance exercise
✔ 8–12 weeks consistency

How clever marketing can trick you into buying supplements that are not what they seem. A little example from a popular collagen brand…

🚩 “97p per serving” but only if you buy 9 bags on subscription (actually £2.49 for a single bag)

🚩 Powder compared to capsules (not a fair comparison)

🚩 “Clinically proven” but actually this is refering only to generic collagen studies, not the specific products.

🚩 Linking to popular health topics and implying that collagen could benefit. There is no evidence of collagen for GLP-1 or hot flushes, despite what the adverts imply.

🚩 Inaccurate facts such as vitamin C improves collagen absorption. This is not true. Vitamin C is involved in collagen synthesis but not absorption.

In this case, the product itself isn’t the issue, it seems to be a straightforward collagen product (although I haven’t seen the third party testing reports), however, the marketing tactics are.

The product is no better and certainly not cheaper than others that are available.

When choosing a collagen, ask:
✔ price per 10 g collagen
✔ peptide size < 5,000 daltons
✔ third-party testing
✔ source and traceability
✔ trials on the finished product

At Amaranth Wellbeing we only work with brands that are transparent, ethical and evidence-based.

I expand on this on our blog so take a look via link in bio.

Comment COLLAGEN and I’ll send you a comparison chart of leading collagen brands against this criteria so you can see what you are really getting.

I’m a nutritional therapist but I do not spend enough time on my food prep. I leave the house early in the morning for a yoga or gym session and then straight onto work so lunch and diner need to be packed up and taken with me.

My food has to deliver but it has to be ready quick so here are my few hacks.

1. Breakfast. It’s 2 minute prep the night before. Oats, almond milk, collagen powder (for extra protein), creatine, life drink and berries. Put everything in a jar and stir. In the morning I sometimes add a yoghurt and seed topping for extra calcium and protein.

2. Lunch. Sometimes it’s left overs if not, it’s a grab and go snack box. Homemade edamame humus (I did make this at the weekend), some veggies or salad, cheese, fruit, nuts and of course some dark chocolate. It’s not pretty or instagramable but a quick way of getting nutrients, protein and fibre.

You can mix this up with chicken strips, boiled eggs, cooked fish. Just make sure that you have some protein, salad or veggies and you can’t go wrong.

3 mistakes people make when buying supplements… and how to avoid wasting your money

1️⃣ Taking supplements they don’t actually need
More isn’t better. You only benefit if you’re deficient or have a clear reason to take something.

2️⃣ Falling for clever marketing
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Always check the research dosage, that’s the real cost.

3️⃣ Choosing cheap, low-dose, poorly absorbed forms. If it won’t absorb, it won’t work, no matter how cheap it was.

Supplements should be targeted, therapeutic and evidence-based — not a guessing game.

At Amaranth Wellbeing, our Nutritional Therapists review your diet, lifestyle, symptoms and current supplements to make sure everything you take is actually working for you.

Skincare is shifting towards long-term care, with less focus on injectables and more on restoring and supporting the skin naturally.

Regenerative treatments like exosomes give your skin cells clear instructions on how to perform, helping strengthen the skin barrier and maintain structure.

Simple, effective, and science-backed, they’re the future of skincare.

To learn more about the benefits of exosomes, come and speak to us in store, or book an appointment via the link in our bio.

Have you heard of “fibremaxing”? 🌱

It’s everywhere right now, but let’s talk about what it actually means, and whether it’s always a good idea.

The term fibremaxing relates to deliberately eating a LOT more fibre (including loads of plants, seeds, wholegrains, legumes and sometimes even fibre supplements), often pushing intake well beyond average.

And to be fair… most people are not eating enough fibre. In the UK, the target is around 30g per day, yet many people fall well short. Fibremaxers often aim for 35–45g+.

Fibre is essential for health and certainly does deserve its moment.

It feeds the microbiome, supports gut health, helps blood sugar balance and cholesterol, improves fullness and satiety, and even supports hormone health, because your gut bacteria rely on it.

But here’s the catch: more isn’t always better and certainly if your body isn’t used to it.

If you increase fibre too quickly, or your gut isn’t ready, you may notice bloating, wind, constipation, discomfort, or flare-ups of IBS and sensitive digestion. (Our NT Gemma will be diving deeper into why fibre can be tricky for some people in upcoming posts 👀)

We like to talk about fibre optimising, rather than fibre maxing.

✔️ Increase gradually

✔️ Hydrate well

✔️ Eat a wide variety of plants

✔️ Match fibre intake to your gut and lifestyle

For most people, 30g per day is a great target, spread across the day (around 8–10g per meal, plus a snack). If you’re far from that now, go slowly.
