Asbestos kills around 20 tradespeople every week.

Last week, a site manager received a suspended prison sentence and a five-year director disqualification after failing to ensure a safe asbestos clear-up at a Cannock demolition site. Two companies were fined a combined £88,300.

When asbestos was discovered on site, the client had a clear duty to bring in a licensed contractor. Instead, they appointed someone without the necessary licence or competence - putting workers and members of the public at risk of exposure to a substance that causes fatal lung disease.

If you work in demolition or refurbishment, the rules are clear. Buildings constructed before 2000 must be surveyed before work begins, and any asbestos must be removed by a licensed contractor.

Another busy week over DSI Services working with regular and new customers.

We are working on two CHAS - Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme applications, one SafeContractor application.

We have also completed a project Quality Assurance & Warranty document for a commercial flat roofing project undertaken by one of our valued clients.

A lot of people ask what our services can do to help.

We assist in all aspects of construction, from health & safety to contract management to technical coordination & client liason.

We helped complete a large roofing and cladding project this week and our client shared a thank you note on an email.

We've been quiet on Social Media over last few weeks, but we have been busy elsewhere.

We've created several bespoke health & safety packs for new clients, developed a construction phase plan for a regular client.

We've also been assisting g with co tracts management on a roofing & cladding project near Oxfors as well as some desktop feasibility surveys for several roof Remedial projects!
