If you get stronger, faster, and fix the old injuries that keep flaring up - you will be more confident

And then you'll start winning more

There is no one I've trained that regrets getting stronger and faster and fixing weak points

Shout out to Dylan for putting in some unreal work he past few months

The guy works on his feet full time and still makes it work

From 85kg -> 79kg -> 85kg leaner and stronger than he's ever been

Oh and he hit 110kg bench press for 5
And a 140kg squat

if you're missing any of these things from your training, you're leaving things on the table

Use them at the start of the session when you're feeling fresh

Keep it simple - 3-5 reps on each

You'll feel the difference

Standards ware what keep you on track when you can't be arsed with anything

They're really annoying, but also very effective

Which is why I make all my clients install them in their lives too. It works for them as well

How do we become indespensible to the team?

I think the main things are availability and being able to adapt

To do those things you need to be injury free and athletic enough to handle it

We can train you to be athletic, and we can lower injury risk through smart training

Running backs get beat up

I know cause I'm the one normally doing it

If you want to stay healthy and finish the season with your body intact you need to do these things

Develop the hamstrings so they don't fall apart late in the game

Be able to clear the lactate quickly so you can recover quicker than they guys opposite you

Build your upper body armour cause you get hit all the time and it'll help protect you

I would love to be wrong about all this

I hate that you have to do the work to be better

But it does

I've felt so much better this pre-season - stronger, harder to move, more in control

No issues with the shoulders

Not luck - doing the work

If you're heading into the season half a step behind, like your body's working against you that's fixable,

You just have to do something about it

Do the work, own the field

You can wait and hope nothing goes wrong and then react to the situation or the injury you get

Or you can do something about it before it happens

you have a weak point somewhere, something you're concerned about

If you're just hoping the next guy to down injured isn't you, that's not a strategy

If you've got something you know is going to bother you during the season and you do nothing, then you're sabotaging your playing career and convenience in the rest of your life

Sometimes you've just gotta have fun with it

I think we've all been in a situation like this at some point

We play to have fun - if you're not having fun why would you play?

But you need to make sure you're not gonna break in half on every snap

Strength plateaus are so disheartening
