In a little pocket of the countryside in Wollerton, lies The Moat where humans and horses connect in a way that many would never have thought possible. Where kids can roam freely without discomfort or unhappiness, this real-life centre is doing its best to bring as much joy as possible to both its young - and older - visitors, using the magical power of horses and animals.

At The Moat, Horses don’t judge. They don’t care what you have been through - only how you show up in the moment.

That’s what makes equine therapeutic sessions so powerful. Through connection, movement and trust, horses help people heal, rebuild confidence and find peace again.

We are inspired to set up a social club because a large percentage of our clients have additional needs, kids get overwhelmed in situations and are triggered by sights and sounds, so that they would not be comfortable in say, a cinema or shopping centre. Whereas here they get to be kids, they get to spend time with the ponies, jump and run around and simply be free.

We get kids coming with crippling shyness or anxiety, who might be struggling at school, or who are being bullied, or going through a family split. We also get kids who are non verbal, who come and form bonds with these animals and their lives begin to change.

We are able to host these clubs in the future every second Sunday that allows an entire family to enjoy this place for an hour and a half - kids with the ponies, cuppas and biscuits for the parents in our wonderful heated Safari tent.

These are our therapy ponies, they are a very special breed, not every pony can be one. They have to be tried and tested to see if they have patience and tolerance. They are more loyal than some humans. They do everything thats thats asked of them, even when it is against their nature !

If they are frightened, they won’t run away or startle. Children, young people and adults might be overwhelmed with emotions, and all these ponies absorb them, but they don’t act out. They walk calmly with us every day, no matter what. How lucky are we at The Moat equine centre to own such wonderful animals.

We're super excited for our Halloween Pony Experience tomorrow. The weather looks to be pretty unpredictable so make sure you wrap up warm. Costumes are welcome but please bring a coat and old footwear/wellies.

Who knows? We may have some Halloween treats 🎃🧛🏼‍♀️

Our ponies are hoping to see some little ghouls & ghosts to get them in the spirit for Halloween 🎃

What we get up to...

• Grooming
• Field/Stable management
• Leading our ponies around the obstacle course
• Crafts & refreshments in the Safari tent
• Haynet filling

11am-1pm

£15 per child with a discount for siblings 😀
