However, my scientific alter ego has been a big influence on the items I make, indeed Steampunk Womble weaves together three different, but intricately related threads. I have always been a huge fan of the Victorian period, be it advances in science, architecture, clothes, or literature, and Steampunk is a beautiful mix of all those elements. I am something of a book collector, mostly Victorian, and I like to use these as a background to the items in my shop. I feel this gives the items a little more context, shows where the inspiration comes from, and presents them in their natural habitat as it were. The second thread is science fiction. I’m a fan of good science fiction, so my shop often includes elements from classics such as Doctor Who, Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy, and Star Trek. The third element is Paganism/Wicca. I have long been fascinated by Pagan folklore, and it is one of those remarkably ancient traditions that, with no pun intended, bewitched me from an early age. You’ll also find a few fairies thrown in for good measure. And why not.
