It was a real honour to be invited to speak by the lovely Holmes family at their recent very special birthday celebration.
I genuinely loved sharing the moment with you all, and the warmth and feedback afterwards meant more to me than I can say - it truly made the experience unforgettable.

Thank you to Steven, Tracey and Connie ❤️ 🥂 x

🌿 A Little Story… and a Small Favour 🌿

I was chatting with a family recently who said, “We didn’t realise we could just ask for you — we thought the Funeral Director chose everything!”

It made me smile, but it also reminded me that many people don’t know they have complete choice when it comes to who leads a service for their loved one.

So here’s my gentle ask:
If you’d like me to be your celebrant — now or in the future — just let your Funeral Director know. It’s entirely your decision, and they’ll arrange it without any hesitation.

I’d be honoured to help you celebrate a life with care, warmth, and a personal touch.

Thank you for keeping me in mind.

Gary.

The Armistice; an agreement to end the fighting of the First World War as a prelude to peace negotiations.
11am on the 11th of November 1918, some 107 years ago.

Armistice is Latin for to stand (still) arms.

We are all forever indebted to the servicemen and women who bravely put their lives on the line for the sake of our future and whilst this is a day to reflect for so many, this year the reflection for me takes on an even more poignant journey given what the last 12 months has yielded in my personal life.

Thank you for your continued support 🙇‍♂️

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them 😢.

Today I completed my first funeral service as a celebrant. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It was an honour to stand with a family during a difficult moment and help tell their story of a life so deeply loved.

I truly hope I did the family proud and brought comfort, clarity and gentleness to the service.

I am very grateful for the trust placed in me and I am humbled by the responsibility.

Hers’s to continuing to grow, learn and serve with compassion.

A massive shout out to Amy at Relph Funeral Directors for her support during the lead up to the service, professional and courteous throughout.

Building Connections:

Today I had the pleasure of meeting with the wonderful team at Fawcett and Hetherington Funeral Service. I was truly grateful for the warm hospitality shown by Andrew, Terry, Pauline, and Joanne, who took the time to meet with me and hear more about my work as an independent celebrant.
It was a genuine pleasure to learn more about their long-standing family business and the compassionate service they provide to families in our community, the rooms and premises were immaculately kept, I’m hopeful this will be the start of a positive working relationship in the future.
A big thank you again to everyone at Fawcett and Hetherington for such a kind and welcoming visit.

A Heartfelt Thank You Too:

I’ve been genuinely touched by all the support, messages, and kind words as I begin my journey as an independent funeral celebrant. Your encouragement means so much and has made this new chapter feel incredibly special.
As a small gesture of thanks, I’d like to offer my celebrant services free of charge for one funeral ceremony. This is simply my way of giving something back and helping a family who would value a thoughtful, personal farewell for their loved one.
This offer is for one service only, and I’ll arrange it directly with the chosen family to ensure everything is handled with care, compassion, and respect.
If you or someone you know might appreciate this, please feel free to get in touch privately or share with your family and friends so that everyone has access!

Thank you again for all your support — it truly means the world.

Today has started in thought provoking mood, it’s true….

“Grief is very real, but so however is love; and love deserves celebration.
Ceremonies should honour both, the depth of loss and the beauty of a well lived life”
