Morning 🤗
The 1st ever Summer Soothe Session went off as a real hit last night. 🥳
Why hadn’t we done this before ????
Snuggled down with eye masks, blankets, soothing music with an undertone of soft waves, with lots of pampering and a guided meditation, what’s not to enjoy…
Oh then the pina colada came out !

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT AND HYPNOTHERAPY

My mother was a yo-yo dieter. She always seemed to be putting on a couple of stone then losing it …only to pile it on once more. I too found that when my weight started to creep up after I reached the age of 40, and I dieted, I just put more weight back on quickly.

Put simply, dieting doesn’t work.

Chances are you have done this too, successfully dieted only to put it back on again…then dieted again. You’ve probably expended years of your life focussed on keeping your weight down.

The truth is that whilst you have shown you have the willpower to succeed when dieting, it’s always been about depriving yourself of the foods you like. And often the more you’re deprived then the more you crave it…..sound familiar?

OUR SUBCONSCIOUS MINDS HAVE BEEN PROGRAMMED
The trouble is that we have been ‘programmed’ to use food in certain ways over the years. Perhaps it was a reward when you were a child, or maybe you had to eat everything on your plate because waste wasn’t right......but over the years, what’s happened is you’ve have trained yourself on a subconscious level to eat even when you don’t want it. These patterns are embedded within our subconscious minds from childhood and often there are many of these engrained habits. Sometimes we follow these patterns without even realising: comfort eating, eating when watching tv, binging on our favourite foods, clearing our plates, snacking…often we don’t even recall eating what we have and are shocked to see the empty plate or wrapper…we didn’t even taste it. That’s because these habits are engrained in our subconscious and we are eating ‘subconsciously’.

THIS IS WHERE HYPNOTHERAPY COMES IN
I too have been where you are but after qualifying as a hypnotherapist and researching weight management I used hypnotherapy to get rid of the ‘unconscious’ ways I was eating food and retune to eat intuitively.

After committed practice I found my weight stabilised. I don’t feel deprived of any food…in fact I eat exactly what I want….and finally I have a healthy relationship with my food daily.
It has helped me to feel happier, build confidence and enjoy my life again, because food and weight are no longer an issue.

In short, eating within a given window each day ....say 12 hours....and then fasting for a period each night has fantastic health benefits.

The headlines today effectively saying it’s our fault if we catch and become ill with C-19 when we’re too fat must have caused many people to feel, once again, that they are failures because they can’t control their food intake. Mental health challenges are bad enough at the moment without something else to add to the list of things to cause us anxiety.

It doesn’t seem fair for people to feel this way when we are surrounded by a fast food culture, endless supplies of processed foods, delightful and tempting cakes and pastries, advertising for cheap delights (or special discounts from the government).

Our relationship with food is intrinsically linked to our emotional state and since childhood we have developed habitual eating and lost touch with what our body needs. We eat because it’s lunchtime or supper time, not because we’re hungry. Then we eat whatever’s in front of us, or eat chocolate or biscuits and overdo the sugar and carbs. We eat because we’re upset or angry, or simply to comfort ourselves.

We are surrounded by easy to access, over processed food and the temptation to indulge can be overwhelming especially if we’re feeling emotionally upset or lonely ....or a whole host of other emotional triggers.

It’s complicated!

One of the elements key to finding our ideal weight lies in ‘intuitive’ eating.

Through reconnecting with your inbuilt guiding systems you may find freedom from calorie counting, diet culture and food fads and manage your weight successfully.

So ask yourself :

When you go to eat are you actually hungry? Or are you feeling one of those emotions I mentioned?
And if you truly are hungry, what do you feel like eating? Will you wait till you can get it or make it or eat what’s easy or readily available even when you don’t fancy it?
And then, do you stop when you’ve had sufficient or do you eat beyond that point?

Intuitive eating may not be an easy journey or a quick quick fix but with commitment can bring permanent results!

If you’ve started the journey then you are doing the right thing and be proud. It might feel like a lonely path but you may be surprised to find others follow....because it works. Our intuition is there to protect and guide us, and will bring the results you crave.

Our relationship with food is mostly based on our emotional state. We eat because we’re bored, angry, sad, lonely, or to give ourselves comfort. The list is endless.

Through recognising that, and releasing these emotional ties we start to reset and reboot. Through intuitive eating, our minds guide us and our body responds by eating what’s right for us.

It’s the emotional baggage that needs to go in order for the pounds to follow.
