⬇️ Muscular health isn’t just about the “fast” hobbies like agility. Many dogs discover scentwork because they cannot do higher impact sports due to age, injury or a medical condition. Because they are moving more slowly, it can be more difficult to see any limitations they have, but massage and muscular health make a huge difference to them being able to search consistently, comfortably, and cover an area effectively. For example, full and smooth neck range of motion is essential for the dog to be able to offer a high and low indication. Core strength and stability is essential for the dog to freeze in a standing indication. I could go on, but if you want to know more about how I could help your scentwork dog please drop me a message! 📧

About Tracy - Tracy Carter DVM BSc MRCVS
Dr. Carter is a veterinarian with over a decade of international experience across referral practice, general medicine, and emerging technologies. Now based in the UK, she focuses on prehabilitation and pain management for active and working dogs through her southwest clinic, Prehabvet. Alongside her clinical work, she develops online courses and conditioning resources for owners, lectures for colleagues, and actively competes in and judges sheepdog trials. Her four border collies keep her well-grounded in the realities of injury prevention and performance care. Dr. Carter’s goal is to combine clinical insight with practical, evidence-based strategies that help owners, trainers, and professionals better understand canine movement and long-term soundness.
