Time to Talk Day is about encouraging open and honest conversations about mental health. Talking about mental health is not always easy, but starting a conversation can make a real difference.

This Time to Talk Day 2026, we are reminding everyone that even small check-ins matter. A simple question or shared moment can help someone feel seen, supported, and less alone.

It could be as easy as:
- Texting a friend to ask how they are doing
- Going for a walk and chatting with a neighbour
- Catching up with a friend over lunch
- Inviting a colleague for a cup of tea and a chat
- Checking in on someone you haven’t spoken to in a while

Mental health problems affect many people, and talking about it can help reduce isolation and stigma - whether it's with a friend, family member, colleague, or professional.

If you are experiencing difficulties with your mental health, NHS Merton Talking Therapies offers free, confidential support for adults living in or registered with a GP in Merton. You can self-refer by visiting our website https://swlstg.nhs.uk/merton-talking-therapies or calling our admin line on 020 3513 6888

Winter can make staying active feel harder and more strenuous. Colder weather and shorter days can take their toll. But moving our bodies has positive benefits on our mind and mood. It benefits our physical health, and our mental wellbeing. Exercising releases endorphins and can improve confidence.

Some ways to stay active this winter:

Try indoor exercises like yoga or Pilates, even simple stretches can improve flexibility and blood flow. The NHS has a range of free guides and videos ranging from sitting/standing stretches to Pilates for beginners. Check out https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/ for more information.

Go for a short walk outside, whether its around your local area or a visit to a local green space, simple outdoor movements can still help boost our mood and our overall wellbeing. Wrapping up warm with layers can help you stay comfortable whilst moving your body.

Today marks National Holocaust Memorial Day. This years theme is 'Bridging Generations' which is about preserving the memory of the Holocaust for the next generation of those who were affected. This allows us to connect the past to the present.

We are thinking of everyone who has been affected by the Holocaust, whether it be first hand or generations later.
