In this time of giving, putting our self-care first can feel difficult.
A Gratitude Jar is a simple way to support our self-care and wellbeing and create feelings of positivity by reflecting on how we feel. You can do this daily or when you are feeling particularly grateful for something and when things are difficult, and you cannot think of anything to add, you can use the jar for your own inspiration or to help lift your mood.

Did you know that baking can be a simple and calming mindfulness activity? It is a great way to slow down, connect with your senses and bring yourself into the present moment.

Next time you bake, try turning it into a mindful moment.

Notice the smells whilst you are baking. Such as the sweetness of the ingredients, the warmth as it begins to bake and change. Let each smell ground you.

Pay attention to the taste, sample your mixture or finished bake slowly noticing every flavour and texture.

Feel the dough and notice the softness, stickiness or firmness as you knead and shape it. Let your hands be fully involved in the process.

Mindfulness doesn't have to be done sitting still, it can be woven into everyday activities like this. Small moments of awareness can help reduce stress and improve our wellbeing.

During the colder months, many people notice changes in their mood, energy and daily habits. Reduced daylight, colder weather and disrupted routines can all affect how we feel, both physically and emotionally.

Taking a moment to reflect on your daily habits, including how you’re caring for your body, mind and relationships, can help you recognise early signs that you may need support and take steps to maintain your wellbeing.

If you have noticed persistent changes in mood, motivation, or daily routines that are affecting your everyday life, Merton Talking Therapies is here to help. Our Wellbeing Team offers a variety of online workshops designed to support your mood, maintain daily routines, manage stress, and stay connected and motivated during the colder months.

You can view upcoming workshops and book your place on our Eventbrite page here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/merton-talking-therapies-20035390826?

Winter can be tough, but prioritising your wellbeing is key! It's easy to get caught up in the gloom, so try to find little moments of joy- whether it's listening to your favourite music, enjoying a warm drink, spending time with loved ones or journaling your feelings. And remember, it's totally okay to have bad days. Acknowledge your feelings, be gentle with yourself, and focus on small steps forward. You're doing great, and brighter days are always on the horizon.
