As a women’s health physio, one of the most common things I hear is: “I thought this pain was just part of pregnancy…”

Yes, it’s common. But that doesn’t mean you have to just put up with it.

1: PGP is very common
Around 1 in 5 pregnant women in the UK experience pelvic girdle pain
Some studies suggest it could affect even more — up to 20–70% depending on how it’s defined

2: It can affect everyday life
PGP can make simple things like walking, turning in bed, or getting dressed painful — and it can impact your quality of life during pregnancy

3: Early support matters
UK guidance (NICE) recommends that women with PGP should be referred to physiotherapy for:
