School holidays aren’t always “fun” for every child…
For some autistic children, they can feel overwhelming, confusing, and dysregulating.
Routine disappears.
Structure changes.
Safe predictability is gone.
What looks like “more free time”
can actually feel like more uncertainty.
And sometimes…
no matter what you plan, suggest, or try—
You just can’t get them out of the house.
Not because they’re being difficult.
Not because they don’t want to enjoy themselves.
But because the outside world can feel too much.
Too unpredictable.
Too overwhelming.
Too exhausting.
You might see:
• Increased meltdowns
• Anxiety
• Shutdowns
• Difficulty sleeping
These children don’t need more pressure to “just go out” or “join in”
They need:
✨ Predictability
✨ Gentle structure
✨ Understanding
✨ A safe space to just be
💛 For some families, staying home is what support looks like
