I’ve shared a few photos of my brother and sister — they’re the reason I was inspired to get involved with the Shack in the first place. 🫶

In my house, it feels like every day is World Down Syndrome Day 😂 but it’s so special to have a day dedicated to celebrating all the incredible children and adults around the world who bring so much joy, individuality, and love just by being themselves!

Don’t forget to wear your odd socks and help spread awareness today!

🌸 Easter Holiday Fun at The Shack! 🐣

The Easter holidays are just around the corner and we’re so excited to welcome both familiar faces and new families for some midweek holiday fun!

Our holiday sessions will run from 31st March – 10th April, giving plenty of opportunities for your superstars to come along, socialise and enjoy the break with us.

🚪 Please note we will be closed on the following dates:
• Monday 30th March
• Friday 3rd April (Good Friday – Bank Holiday)
• Sunday 5th April (Easter Sunday)
• Monday 6th April (Easter Monday – Bank Holiday)

During these dates our team will be spending some well-deserved time with their families. Thank you for your understanding. 💛

🦁 Exciting News! – Free Family Trips to Chester Zoo

We’re delighted to be launching our family assisted days out this Easter with three free trips to Chester Zoo. These trips are designed to help keep your superstars engaged, active and having fun during the school holidays.

Additional Shack staff (including Ellie) will attend the trips to support families who may benefit from an extra pair of hands so everyone can enjoy a relaxed day at the zoo.

📌 A few key details:
• These trips will not affect the sessions running at The Shack
• Families will need to arrange their own transport to and from the zoo
• Our team will arrive early and will be there with tickets ready for you on arrival

If transport support means you’d need a family member or friend to accompany you, please let us know. Where possible we will provide an additional ticket (subject to availability).

📩 Interested in the Chester Zoo trips?
Simply complete the Register of Interest form or message us with your preferred date if you’ve already registered.

📅 Want to book a holiday session at The Shack?
Send us a message with your preferred days and times and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Our half-term sessions filled up very quickly, so we recommend booking early to avoid missing out!

Weekend and evening sessions will continue as normal throughout the holidays, apart from the dates listed above.

We can’t wait for a fantastic Easter break filled with fun, laughter and adventures! 🐰✨

We have some brilliant news to share! 🎉

After six months of serious hard work behind the scenes (and we really do mean a lot), we’re so proud to say that as of today we are officially ✨The Sensory Shack CIO ✨and have been granted charity status!

There’s been so much time, effort and dedication poured into making this happen — all to strengthen what we can offer and create even more opportunities for the amazing people we support. 💛

Becoming a registered charity means we can now apply for funding to improve our services, offer more, and achieve even bigger things for our superstars. Every bit of work has been completely worth it!

We had a ssssuper special guest today… 🐍✨

Meet Noodle the corn snake!

Our wonderful Em brought in her beloved pet to surprise our Harry Potter–mad boys and bring a little magic to life. 🪄

Noodle was very curious about the shack, having a good explore, and we couldn’t have been prouder of how calm and gentle the boys were with her.

After all the excitement and adventures, Noodle headed off for a well-earned rest. What a magical visit! 💛

Why we opened The Sensory Shack.

The reasons that we decided to open the sensory shack was to support anyone of any age with sensory issues in a fun, safe and relaxing experience.

We wanted children and adults of all with additional needs to use the shack as a home from home.

We wanted to support adoptive parents and foster carers to maintain a strong attachment and securing placements.

We aimed to offer support and help to anyone looking after someone with additional needs and provide them with a space they could access privately and at a fair price.
