IMPORTANT: Local Area SEND Inspection – Northumberland
The Local Area SEND inspection has officially been called for Northumberland.
Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) want to hear directly from parents and carers of children and young people with SEND (aged 0–25) about your experiences of support in our area.
🗣️ This is your chance to have your voice heard.
Your views really do matter and will help inspectors understand what’s working well and what needs to change.

🎅Christmas tips from Contact - For families with disabled children🎄

Christmas can be a wonderful time of year, but it can also be overwhelming, especially for children who often rely on routine, predictability and a calmer pace.

We asked parents in our community to share what really helps them keep things magical while reducing stress. Their top tips are in the graphic below, from pacing presents, to keeping routines steady, to choosing low-pressure ways to celebrate that suit your child’s needs.

Every family’s Christmas looks different, and that’s okay. The most important thing is finding a rhythm that works for you, whether that’s a quiet day at home, spreading activities out over the month, skipping wrapping paper, or serving nuggets instead of turkey.

✨ There’s no “right” way to do Christmas.
✨ Your child’s comfort comes first.
✨ A calmer Christmas is still a magical Christmas.
