This 5 second grounding technique will keep you in the now ❀️

Look around and name 5 things that you can see. Really see them, notice their texture and colours

Now identify 4 things you can touch, feel their temperature, their surfaces.

Listen for 3 distinct sounds around you.

Notice 2 things you can smell.

Finally become aware of 1 taste in your mouth.

Your anxiety cannot survive in the present moment and this technique forces your brain to engage with now. When you are fully present worry dissolves because worry only exists in an imagined future.

This is your emergency brake for spinning thoughts and racing hearts.
