Such a great resource used by us midwives. If any of you have any baby items that are in good condition that you’d like to donate please drop me a message & I can arrange collection locally or drop off in the studio 🤍

This September, we have 26 newborn referrals planned. That’s 26 babies who will soon arrive needing the essentials for a safe and comfortable start in life.

So far, we’ve completed 8 of these referrals, with another 18 to go, not including the emergency and same-day requests we know will come through.

We could never do this without the kindness of our community. Every donated moses basket, cot, baby bath, toiletry set and bundle of clothes makes a huge difference. Thank you to each and every person who has taken the time to donate, your generosity means the world to us and to the families we support. The need for our service is not slowing down, and we’re so grateful that your kindness isn’t either 🫶

We also want to give a heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers. Your time, care and dedication in preparing each referral ensures families receive not only what they need, but items that are clean, safe, and thoughtfully put together.

If you have baby items in good condition that you’d like to donate, we’d love to hear from you. Together, we are helping to give babies the best possible start, because every child deserves to be happy, safe and to thrive. 💜

Happy International Day of the Midwife to my amazing friends & colleagues.

Being a midwife is more than a profession—it’s a calling. It’s about holding space for life’s most powerful moments, guiding families with compassion, and honoring the strength of every woman.

To my fellow midwives: thank you for your tireless dedication, your wisdom, and your fierce advocacy for safe, respectful, and empowering care. To the families I support daily—you inspire me every single day.

Here’s to the magic of midwifery and the love we bring into the world, one birth at a time.

A change in movement can be a warning sign that your baby is unwell. It doesn't mean something is ALWAYS wrong. But by reporting all cases of change in movement we have the best chance of saving the babies at risk.

Of course there are people who had reduced movement and everything was fine. It doesn't mean everyone will have the same experience.

In 1982, the year before car seats became a legal requirement there were 2443 road deaths, by 2016 that was 816. Seatbelts saved lives. That didn't mean everyone that didn't wear a seatbelt died. I was born in 1980, I was driven around without a seatbelt. I'm still alive. Do you think I wear a seatbelt every time I get in the car? You bet I do!

Survivor Bias means there are a lot of people who did something and 'were fine' but those that weren't aren't here to comment.

If someone tells you their baby slowed down and they were fine, congratulate them and continue to report all your cases of reduced movement to your midwife or maternity unit.

Stillbirth rates have improved greatly over the last 100 years, but more babies are still stillborn than die from SIDS, Road deaths, meningitis, cancer and drowning COMBINED!

Please continue to raise awareness and report any change in your baby's movements, this could be a reduction, a rapid increase, a change in intensity or type of movements.
