Everyone thinks they need to hit the gym harder during Christmas.

To burn off the extra food.

So they sign up for brutal classes.

Or commit to 6 days a week of weights.

Then life gets chaotic.

Family shows up.

Plans change.

Kids become unwell.

And suddenly you’ve missed 3 workouts and feel like a failure.

Here’s what I recommend to parents who want to be active this Christmas:

Walking (or any other body-weight exercise you can manage).

I know, I know.

Bet you thought I was going to say something dramatic then lol

Inside Unleashed, we love walking because it’s the most SUSTAINABLE thing you can do when life gets messy.

You can do it pretty consistently anywhere you find yourself this winter.

You don’t need a gym or equipment.

You can take the kids along.

And you don’t need to shower and wash your hair or create a bunch of laundry you can’t dry…

All you need is 20-30 minutes and a pair of shoes.

Walking REDUCES stress.

It clears your head.

And keeps you moving.

PLUS: It gets you out for a bit when your house is packed with di*****ds.

Inside Unleashed, some of our clients ONLY have a step count goal right now.

No stressful gym training.

And they’re crushing it - because it’s manageable and they look forward to it.

In UNLEASHED, everyone’s cheering for you.

For a lot of people, Christmas dinner feels like something to “survive”

Especially if you’ve already decided you want to lose some weight.

The meal makes you second-guess yourself.

Then you either restrict yourself and feel miserable...

Or you overdo it and spend Boxing Day hating yourself.

Neither is a healthy attitude (and the kids are watching)

Christmas dinner isn’t a TEST.

It’s not pass/fail.

It’s just a meal.

A special one, 100%...

But still just ONE meal out of the 1,095 meals you’ll eat this year.

Inside Unleashed, we teach a simple framework:

Enjoy the meal. Don’t destroy the day. Show the kids that it’s ok to enjoy food.

What does that mean?

It means you can have turkey, stuffing, roast potatoes, dessert... all of it.

But maybe you DON’T need to:

Graze on cheese and crackers all afternoon before dinner
Finish everyone else’s leftovers
Eat until you physically can’t move
Enjoy the MEAL.

Not the entire 48-hour food marathon.

Here’s the mindset shift:

You’re not being good by restricting.

And you’re not being bad by enjoying food.

You’re just LIVING.

And living includes Christmas dinner.

The guilt only shows up when you attach moral value to food.

Watch your language around it. (You’re the role model)

Eat it. Enjoy it. Move on.

Back to normal the next meal.

You’re allowed to enjoy your life.

This is especially important while working toward big goals.

The scale is a liar…

And if you don’t know that, you’re gonna drive yourself insane at Christmas.

Here’s what happens:

December 26th rolls around.

You step on the scale.

It’s up 5 pounds from last week…

The Christmas cake run at work, one drink after work, polishing off the kids’ selection boxes (the bars they don’t like)...

Panic sets in. You spiral.

Skipping meals.

Over-training.

Punishing yourself.

You didn’t gain 5 pounds of FAT. You gained water weight.

From the extra carbs, salt, and alcohol.

It’s temporary.

And even though you KNOW it’ll be gone in 3-4 days…

It takes effort to be calm during that.

Most people freak out and just make everything WORSE.

Inside Unleashed, we teach Mums and Dads to track differently during party season.

Not daily weigh-ins.

Weekly averages.

Or better yet... just track your HABITS instead of the scale.

Did you move your body?

Hit your protein?

Did you sleep well?

Have the kids been focused on?

Those are the metrics that actually MATTER.

If you really NEED to weigh yourself over Christmas...

Do it once before the festivities start and don’t touch the scale again until January 3rd.

Give your body time to normalise.

Then check in.

I promise the number will be WAY better than if you’d been torturing yourself daily.

And you’ll save yourself a ton of unnecessary stress.

The scale isn’t the boss of you.

“I’ll be good after Christmas.”

You’ve said it.

I’ve said it.

Everyone’s said it.

It SOUNDS reasonable.

Like you’re giving yourself permission to enjoy the holidays guilt-free.

But you’re writing off 6 weeks of your life.

“After Christmas” never means December 26th.

It means January 2nd… at the earliest (usually when the kids go back to school, let’s be honest)...

And during those 6 weeks…

You’re ACTIVELY moving backwards.

Avoiding the gym because it’s too hard.

Eating like every day is a celebration.

Sleeping like s**t because you’re stressed and overstimulated.

6 weeks of not starting can take 12+ weeks to recover from.

So you don’t just lose December…

You actually lose December, January, February, and half of March.

Trying to get back to where you were in November.

If you’re actively AVOIDING your health, you’re regressing.

And the cost of that regression is MASSIVE.

Not just physically. Mentally, too.

Because every day you put it off...

You’re reinforcing the belief that you can’t trust yourself.

That you need perfect conditions to succeed.

That future you will magically have more discipline than current you.

How can they, when you don’t let them practice discipline?

The ONLY difference between future you and the current you is time wasted.

What if you DIDN’T write off December?

What if you stayed consistent?

You’d be so far ahead in January it wouldn’t even be fair.

That’s the cost of “I’ll be good after Christmas.”

You’re not just delaying progress.

You’re giving up a head start.

And for what?

Permission to feel bad about yourself for 6 weeks?

F**k that.

Start now.
