Rainbows in Washing Lines and Cats in Clouds
A joy-filled creative writing and art workshop for young people exploring what we can do to help our mental health
Nov 24 from 13:00 - 16:00
The Nook, Perranporth

Event link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rainbows-in-washing-lines-and-cats-in-clouds-tickets-1968773694117

PLEASE NOTE: This session is intended for young people up to the age of 25.
Led by writer and poet Lucy Beckley with support from Make It Better’s founder, Ruth Purdy and Your Art Connect, Rainbows in Washing Lines and Cats in Clouds will be a joy-filled workshop of creative exploration, engaging our senses and creating unique pieces of poetry, cyanotype prints and collage.
We’ll explore where we can find joy, how we can use our everyday ‘ordinary’ as inspiration, how journaling can support us to process our emotions and use photography and collage to create unique pieces of art.
It will be an opportunity for all participants to think about what they can do to look after their health and wellbeing.
To close, we will all add to a ‘Rainbow Washing Line of Hope’ and ‘Constellation of Connection’ committing to hopeful actions to help our mental health and think about who we can reach out to when we need help
Participants will leave the session with a Joy List Poem, a cloud collage, a cyanotype picture and some creative writing prompts that they can use at home.
This session is intended for young people up to the age of 25.
This session supports Cornwall Council’s Mental Health and Engagement Project, which will contribute to and inform The 2026 Director of Public Health Report for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Trying to do 1980s graffiti throwies on a wicker lantern is impossible…. Pretty chuffed that we managed to even attempt it tho! This is going to be part of a fantastic lantern steam train, with each carriage representing a different era in Blystra Arts “stories from the station” . Always fab working with these guys!
Anyone notice the little chad hidden in YAC…..?

And yes, of course I had to add in a ghettoblaster!

Today was a day of 1:1 graffiti art with a young man struggling in school, followed by the LD art group (MJ Sperls have you see this for Jake?) and the after work chill out club with some newbies! What a lush day….

Check out what your art connect has to offer online .

Starting next Thursday!! 11-1 at in Perranporth.

Do you want to help Your Art Connect to grow, while shopping online?

Imagine, every time you shop with the likes of Tesco, EBay, Amazon, Tui, Sainsbury’s and even your utility bills, you can actually raise funds for us WITHOUT PAYING A PENNY or even lifting a finger (ok, maybe click yes when it says would you like easyfundraising to donate?)

It really is that simple.

1) Sign up using the link or QR code below.

https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/youth-art-connect-cic

2) when the easyfundraising pop up arrives on your screen and says “would you like to add a donation?”, click yes (It doesn’t cost you a penny; the donation is from easyfundraising)

And in the words of Jethro…. “Job’s a Guddun “

Come on peeps…every single online purchase I alone have made in the last few months have raised over £70 for YAC simply by clicking “yes please” to the donation box. And for each sign up this month we get £2 per sign up!!!Imagine that….if we got just 100 sign ups that £200 for nothing. Share with all your friends and family and the world is our oyster! (Ok maybe a few free art sessions for the community!)

Please help us raise vital funds to provide art for mental health across Cornwall by one simple act of kindness…..

Last call out.

On Monday we will be representing the thousands of Children with SEND across the UK who have been let down by systemic educational failures

We are tired of excuses around funding, staffing, etc when we see the millions wasted in complaints, LGO payouts and tribunals simply because people didn’t follow the basics and ensure these children have a lawful access to a suitable education.

It’s time things changed.

Please consider turning up with a pair of shoes with a story, or sending them to myself or Kirsty A Pellow to collect and we will place them there for you. But please don’t just sit back and do nothing if you want to make a stand.
Please see below:

For anyone coming to the event on Monday the 3rd, and for anybody wishing for their children’s stories to be represented:

There are some options:
1) You can attend with your labelled shoes, place them down and leave.
2) You can attend with your labelled shoes, place them and stay.
3)We can collect your shoes/ you can drop them off please label them like the example- any label, any pen will do)
4) We can supply shoes and the labels and represent you silently by placing them (we would not discuss your child with anybody inc press) Please only share on your label, what you’re comfortable with.

Please, please help us get a good display for this event ❤️ be there and contribute however you can xx
