Many thanks to Gabby and everyone who joined us at Burnley Rugby club. Sarah, Peter and I were proud to support Gabby and friends and family.
When Gabby found her partner Tom in cardiac arrest, she immediately began CPR, called 999, and fought to save him - drawing on her nursing training despite the emotional shock. Tragically, Tom passed away at the age of just 34.
After Tom’s death, Gabby realised how vital first aid knowledge is and decided to honour him by raising funds for St John Ambulance in Tom's memory. Through generous support from family, friends, and the community, £1,845 was donated to help train future lifesavers.
In Tom’s memory, Gabby also organised a free local first aid demonstration in Burnley, led by local St John volunteers Peter and Adam. Peter described the event as a moving day of learning, reflection and hope - a powerful tribute that turned grief into something life-affirming.
Gabby, thank you for all you do to make a difference in your community and for keeping Tom's memory and spirit alive through your kindness. We send our heartfelt condolences to Gabby, and Tom's loved ones.
We are incredibly grateful for all in-memory donations, as every contribution helps support future life-saving work. As a special thank you, anyone who raises or donates £500 or more in memory of a loved one will receive a handcrafted ceramic St John’s Wort flower - a meaningful symbol of remembrance inspired by the historic medicinal plant associated with St. John the Baptist.
