I have been enjoying a quick pickle recently. This fabulous red cabbage 💜

I watched a lot of Nigella Lawson over Christmas and New Year to relax. It gave me some ideas. I love the way she creates and makes food and shares, eats and reveres it.

My recipe starred bay leaves, nigella seeds, Ceylon cinnamon, brown rice vinegar, honey (when the brown rice syrup had run out), sea salt, a few cloves, and water!

It’s sweet and sour and incredibly yummy with this Rye Bread and now it’s almost gone!

Most of all its vibrancy brings delightful joy to each meal or snack that it’s part of. Google quick pickles and give it a try 💜

Get in touch any time if you’d like to reduce sugar in your life. It is liberating and fun and one day I’m sure there will be a more sugar-aware culture. It’s happening slowly. It’s about adding joy and experience, not taking it away. Only one way to find out.

Pea Hummus… it was delicious! Sweet but not ‘sweet’ … check this week in your food shop how many products have sugar, it’s amazing!

I’m not suggesting you need or want to be someone who checks labels every time. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. But it is very interesting to see how often it’s added.

I don’t always have time to cook from scratch so I make things I can incorporate in to a meal or make multiple different meals from.

I love sitting on the floor, on the grass, on a wall, against a tree… only occasionally would I rather have a chair, and when I do it’s delicious!

It was a beautiful damp wet day and I love this kind of weather! After a long walk I did fancy a sit down but it was so wet and I didn’t want to have wet trousers from sitting on the ground. So here was a chair… I know it shouldn’t be there and it’s curious how it ended up there! A 3 legged chair. Pushing it in to the sand it was stable. I had such a wonderful rest, too good to be put in to words.

I wonder how many other walkers have enjoyed a rest here. Sometimes things that are ’out of place’ look so incredibly welcome. It was gorgeous to have some space!

Thank you walk, thank you chair, thank you damp weather and thank you to many more..

Recently I reduced my sugar again, it had crept up and I was feeling so incredibly tired at times!! I was also having some coffee and a little alcohol too. I’m very sensitive so these things really influence me!

Almost 3 weeks later and that feeling of exhaustion and heaviness has almost gone. It makes it much easier to know now if my tiredness is from poor sleep, too much screen time, procrastinating or anything else.

Last month I did a boot sale and sold and gave away a a few bits and pieces.

The last time I did a boot sale was in 2011 and I was more proactive then in terms of standing and engaging with everyone and enjoying myself in that way. This time I laid out my table and sat down on a little stool with a painting I’d done a month before and painted another layer. It was a beautiful morning!!

I was there from about 7.30am and I left at about 12pm. I thoroughly enjoyed it, looking up to say hi to passers by who some bought a few things as I sat and gently painted.

I felt so relaxed and I enjoyed painting so much. I find painting at home quite difficult (I don’t paint very often at all as I prefer activities that include movement generally) and this experience felt much more alive for me. Being amongst others in this way felt good!

AND when I arrived, on the stall across the way was the kind of furniture I love, second hand and wooden, and I could fit it in my little car. It was the first thing I noticed as I pulled up at my spot and I instantly knew it would come home with me.

We agreed on £35. I spent more than I made and I had a lovely time! I was so happy to be involved, meet people, paint, enjoy the mixed weather and I found a beautiful piece of furniture that I really did needed too.

Reminding me that these sweet experiences are my kind of sugar 💞

I’ve been camping a lot recently 😃 this is a lovely spot in the Yorkshire Dales with a small waterfall a few minutes away. I went for a quick dip each morning and enjoyed visitors and locals at various times of the day going in as well!! Sharing joy 💞

This was a small privately owned site which was very busy at the weekend and quiet during the week 🙂 Both experiences were lovely!

I didn’t grow up going camping. It’s something I’ve done in the last few years and I like it more and more!!
