My Endo Life

My Endo Life Hello and welcome to my blog. I have opened this account primarily to raise awareness of this awful illness but also to help as many women as possible.

Six years ago today I was sat in hospital with my son after he had a major operation. Today I am sat in hospital myself about to have a major operation. Finally I can say a huge f*** you to my womb.

Iv missed out on so much the past five years, having to spend two weeks of every month in pain, several days in bed. Iv lost jobs, iv had to miss birthdays, parties, christenings, weddings, social gatherings. Iv lost friends, been in pain during family holiday’s and most importantly precious time being a mother.

Enough is enough so Mrs Uterus you can totally do one!

Thank you to everyone who has offered to look after Freddie these next few weeks, to my new found friends who understand I can’t always commit and stick to plans. To the people who have supported John during my previous hospital visits and everyone who has checked in to offer support to me. You know who you are. Times like these you know who your people are 💙

Let’s go, Bitter sweet.

So on Thursday I am having radioactive iodine therapy. I have decided I want to be open and honest about everything and the whole process. When I have been looking I can’t seem to find many mothers who have been through this with having a small child. I’m hoping I can help other people with what to expect, how to manage the ups and downs because I am honestly terrified. So here goes ….

Women with endometriosis should have the option to freeze their eggs on the NHS, due to the high percentage of infertility (30-50%). Women undergoing chemotherapy have around a 40% chance of being infertile, yet they can get their eggs frozen on the NHS and women with endometriosis cannot.

Early research is giving hope to patients with endometriosis, a notoriously hard-to-manage condition.

As I lay here in bed in pain right now I feel so lonely. I have lost so many friends thanks to this awful condition. It’s not something that’s easy to understand. I can’t make plans incase I’m in pain and unable to move, if I do make plans then I may have to leave early or not attend at all, it’s no wonder I don’t get invites anymore 😢

Can anyone else relate?
