Your head weighs the same as a bowling ball… so if your neck, shoulders or back have been aching lately, it’s not “just stress”. Your body is literally trying to hold up 5–6kg of you all day 😅

And when we’re working from sofas, kitchen tables, beds, or staring down at laptops/phones… that bowling ball slowly drifts forward.

➡️ Neck muscles tighten ➡️ Shoulders roll in ➡️ Pecs shorten ➡️ Upper back overworks ➡️ Lower back tries to compensate

A full-body chain reaction, all from how we’re sitting. And yes… it can absolutely leave your posture looking a bit like a shrimp. Or a croissant 🥐 (no judgement… I see it daily)

The wild part? Most of the people I see with this are in their late 20s and 30s. WAY too young to be folding like pastries.

The good news: it’s fixable 🙌 Small daily habits + a bit of hands-on work goes a long way.

BIG life update… I’ve joined the 21st century and got a dishwasher! 🧼✨

Finally, no more washing up.
Problem solved, right?
…well, not exactly.

Because as I’ve quickly realised, there are still the awkward bits that don’t fit: the big pan, the chopping board, the water bottle that’s hand-wash only.
So I’m still doing dishes… just less of them.

And it got me thinking (dangerous, I know 😅):
This is exactly what happens when it comes to looking after your body.
When your back or neck starts hurting, you might stretch, move more, maybe come for a few massage sessions… and the pain goes away.
✅ Problem solved!
Except… not really.

Just like the dishes, there’s always a bit of maintenance needed. If you stop stretching or looking after yourself as soon as you feel better, that tension slowly creeps back in and you’re right back where you started.

🧠 Did you know?
Around 80% of my clients who keep up with their stretching or self-care between sessions say they stay pain-free for much longer, and when tension does come back, it’s far less intense.

So yes, I’ve got a dishwasher. But I’ll still be washing up.
And your body? It might feel better now, but it still needs a bit of regular care to stay that way.

💻 Working from the sofa or kitchen table? Here’s what your posture might be doing to your back, and a simple tweak to help!

Since so many of us work from home these days, I’ve noticed a big rise in people coming in with neck, shoulder, and lower back tension.
And honestly, it’s not always because of too much work, but where we’re working from.

When you sit on the sofa or at the kitchen table for long periods, your body naturally rounds forward. Your shoulders roll in, your chest (pec muscles) shorten and tighten, and your head starts to drift forward. This means your head is no longer stacked and supported by your spine, so your neck and upper back muscles have to work overtime to hold it up.

To make matters worse, your lower back often tries to compensate by pulling everything upright again. Which is why so many people end up with tension across the neck, shoulders, and lower back all at once.

The good news? Small adjustments can make a big difference:
✅ Place a cushion behind your lower back to support your natural curve.
✅ Lift your screen to eye level, even a few books under your laptop helps.
✅ Every 30-40 minutes, roll your shoulders back and stretch your chest open.
✅ Take regular breaks to reset your mind and body.

Your body’s designed to move, not stay locked in one position all day, so these little “movement snacks” really do help reduce stiffness and improve posture.

If you’ve noticed your shoulders or back aching more since working from home, you’re definitely not alone, it’s one of the most common things I see in my studio.
