Stepping Stones Norwich

A vibrant charity for adults with learning disabilities in Norwich. We’re big on photography and video too, with our own mini TV channel, Stepping Stones TV.

Stepping Stones is a small, vibrant charity for adults with learning disabilities in Norwich. Our vision is for a fairer, more equitable society where adults with learning disabilities receive the education, training and support they require to fulfill their potential. Our mission is to increase our students’ knowledge and confidence, encouraging them to lead more independent and fulfilling lives within their community. Working in a person centred way, we build life skills through our main subject areas - art & enterprise, cooking, creative media, supported employment, health and fitness and horticulture. We love to make food together, cooking with the fresh fruit and veg we grow at our allotment which is a short walk away from the main centre. We produce all kinds of arts and crafts designed and made by our students, these products are then sold as part of our enterprise project. We really enjoy meeting people and we like finding ways to meet new people, share experiences and create chances for people to learn from each other.

We have an exciting new addition at Stepping Stones HQ on Heartsease Lane, Norwich - we were selected to host one of the 90 Little Penguin Book Stops for the East of England to celebrate Books 90th birthday 📖 🎉🙌

This little library will be maintained and stocked by our students for the benefit of the local community to bring joy, inspiration, opportunity and fun to those who use it.

Penguin Books have donated some excellent books which will be shared over time so there will always be a great stock of varied things to read, if you are able to do so, please take one and leave one or return for others to enjoy.

All of us at Stepping Stones are pleased to share that we are one of eight businesses selected to receive funding, investment and support as part of the Jarrold Growth Fund, this year in partnership with Norfolk County Council.

We will use funding from the Growth Fund to exhibit at our first ever trade show in Earls Court, London in early 2026 to showcase our products to a national B2B audience/retailers,more updates on this soon!

It will also allow us to further develop our range of student-made products, such as stationery, wrapping paper, calendars, t-shirts and bags.

We are excited to share that we will be at FUSE Norwich for Social Enterprise Day Showcase 2025 Carrow House on Thursday 20th November, between 10 - 2.

Our students will be there to showcase and sell our products - wrapping paper, cards, notebooks etc so please pop down and say hello if you can!

We are now in the main entrance Carrow House Norwich Unity Hub on Tuesdays 10:00 - 14:00 so please pop on down to see us and buy a coffee and some homemade bakes!

Stepping Stones is heading back to Norwich Arts Centre on Saturday 29th November for our 3rd festive fun event! 🎉🎅🎄

This festive event is a great opportunity to start your Christmas shopping early with unique products made locally.

Join us for free creative workshops, watch and listen to music made by students of Stepping Stones and spend time in our Christmas shop where cards, notebooks, tote-bags, t-shirts, calendar will be available to purchase.

We will also set up our own café with the usual Stepping Stones delicious cakes and savoury treats made in-house by students at our commercial kitchen. We hope to see you there!

Join Stepping Stones for a sea themed story telling adventure!

We are excited to share that we will be part of the Imaginarium as part of the Norwich Book Festival The Forum, Norwich next Monday 27th October and Tuesday 28th October between 10 - 4. - no booking required, just turn up and enjoy!

We will be hosting a simple story generating game for visitors of all ages to the Imaginarium where you can pick handmade cards featuring characters, locations and ideas for plotlines, all with an ocean theme. This then links into a short story based on the cards chosen 🐙🐳🦐🦀🐠

Come join our Stepping Stones' students in their exciting Together project, part of Confluence, a community collaborative exhibition at Anteros arranged by our tutor, .
The students will be running art sessions on the 14th, 16th, 21st and 23rd October. Please see the programme for full details. These are all free and drop in so no need to book. They will also be sharing some of their artwork on display and inviting conversations and journeys, food, language and cultural exchange. They would love to see you there any time from 10.30am to 12pm and 1pm to 2.30pm.
