Disability isn't something to shy away from or feel awkward around. For 1 in 4 of us, it’s just part of our everyday lives.

What makes things harder are the barriers around us. So how do we change that? Well, we start by talking about it.

Non-disabled allies: if a disabled person tells you about a barrier, listen and ask how you can help. And if you spot a barrier on your own, explore what you can do to remove it.

But remember, no one owes you their story. Respect people’s boundaries and value what they do choose to share.

Disability is nothing to feel awkward about. It’s just life.

Approximately 10% of the UK population is estimated to have dyslexia, according to the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) and the NHS. However, this figure can vary, with some reports suggesting prevalence rates between 3% and 7% for more stringent definitions, and others estimating as high as 1 in 5 people or 20%.
This is a sample of what it can be like to read text for some Dyslexic people.

Look at this lovely Mobility Scooter that Barnham Broom Resident Glenn Ireland has availible for residents to borrow if and when they need it. My mother in law gained her confidence trying this one. And then went on to have a successful shopping trip on a supermarket one. Contact Glen direct if you wish to borrow.

Include Everybody
This mean ensuring all individuals, regardless of their differences, feel valued, respected and empowered to attend venues and events in our village. Supporting both adults and children BBET can help you to include everyone. We offer FRRE practical advise and can offer routes to potential funding. It involves actively creating opportunities for participation and contribution from everyone, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual understanding. There are several disabled people in our village and currently the only place we can access is the village hall. Thank you for reading this.

Thank You to the Village Hall for installing sensor lighting in the hallway. Very helpful especially for those of us that are partially sighted.
