Follow us on Twitter - Mindfulness is a way of reducing stress and enhancing wellbeing through simple yet powerful practices that can be brought into daily life. These can support you in the midst of working life and with the wider demands of the modern world. Mindfulness develops our ability to become aware of where the mind is and with practice we can learn how to untangle ourselves from the stream of thoughts that we experience that may be causing distress. Strengthening our attention through practising mindfulness gives us the opportunity to choose what we pay attention to and how we can respond in a way that optimises our wellbeing.

Mindfulness has many possible benefits. It helps us to manage stress and to strengthen our connection to what is going on in our minds and bodies. Mindfulness can also help us to regulate and process strong emotions such as anger.
The purpose of anger is to energise us to act in response to a particular situation or event or when thereโ€™s an obstacle to our wellbeing or that of another. It may arise abruptly or burn slowly over time. While natural and necessary, this powerful energy often hijacks us, leads us to react in all kinds of ways which may cause additional suffering to ourselves and perhaps others.
When anger is held in mindful awareness, it can help us navigate these emotions and listen to the message within the anger. We may then draw on its energy and respond more wisely to challenging situations. Ref https://www.tarabrach.com/anger-transformation/
Mindfulness is not a โ€˜quick fix.โ€™ The benefits are most likely to be felt by making the space for daily mindfulness practice.

LAST CHANCE TO BOOK

Mindfulness for Leaders - Thursday 21 September 2023 at 3pm

Leaders play a crucial role in the wellbeing of staff and effectiveness of an organisation. Whilst rewarding, being a leader brings particular responsibilities and challenges that can be highly stressful. Leaders are equally at risk of high levels of stress and other psychological wellbeing problems as the staff that they lead, yet it is recognised that it can be difficult for leaders to acknowledge this and take action to address it.

Mindfulness is recommended in the NICE guidelines for staff wellbeing, recent results from the mindfulness service here in Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust show practising mindfulness can improve wellbeing and reduce stress, anxiety and depression.

If you are interested in how mindfulness may support your wellbeing and optimise your leadership potential, then this two-hour workshop might be for you.
