I’m a therapist, but I still… 🤍

Sometimes it’s assumed that because we help others, we have it all figured out, never make mistakes, and always have our lives perfectly together. The truth? We’re human too.

We have tools, knowledge, and experience—but most days, we’re still figuring things out, feeling the struggles, and navigating the messy emotions life throws at us. Just like you.

Therapists don’t have to be perfect. We’re just doing our best—and so are you.

This postcard now sits proudly in my room. ❤️This is Aasta Hansteen. I hope that in moments of doubt, her picture can offer a little strength — a reminder of the many badass women who paved the way before us, and the courage it takes to speak up and stand firmly in who you are.

Recently I visited the Vigeland Museum, and this small sculpture immediately stood out to me.

The figure is Aasta Hansteen, a pioneering Norwegian painter, writer, and early advocate for women’s rights. She was known for her outspoken views and, famously, for brandishing her umbrella while arguing passionately in public debates.

I loved this piece of work — her determined face and the sense of defiance in the way she stands. She was a strong and controversial personality, who frequented cafes and markets on her own. Aasta was considered unconventional and outspoken, often challenging social norms around women’s independence, education, and equality— which in the 19th century was pretty ballsy!!!!

Sometimes the constant stream of news and updates can feel overwhelming. Our minds weren’t designed to absorb the weight of the whole world all at once.

If you notice yourself feeling anxious, tense, or emotionally drained, it might be a sign to pause the scrolling for a while.

Step back. Breathe. Come back to what’s within your control.

Caring about the world and caring for yourself can exist at the same time 💙

Everyone’s path is different. Healing, growth, and progress aren’t a race — they unfold in their own time. Trust the direction your life is taking.
