It was a pleasure to spend time at .kliniek in Maastricht last week, gaining insight into advanced lipofilling techniques.

Thank you to for hosting and organising the visit, and to An Deliaert, Darren Booi, their fellows, and the excellent theatre staff for their warm welcome and open teaching.

Thanks also to for the generous invitation.

I learnt a great deal through presentations and live operating about:
• The closed lipomodelling system using the Lipografter, as practiced at Mooi and other centres for both breast cancer reconstruction and aesthetic breast surgery
• The use of serial lipofilling to create a breast mound following simple mastectomy, and for reconstruction over an expander
• Aesthetic breast augmentation with fat transfer
• The RAFT technique to re-create the inframammary fold in primary breast reconstruction

A valuable experience, and I look forward to bringing these techniques into my surgical practice treating women with breast cancer.

Just back from ORBS 2025 – the Oncoplastic and Breast Reconstructive Surgery conference, which brought together oncoplastic breast and plastic surgeons from across the UK and around the world.

It was an excellent two days of learning and networking.

The programme included sessions on chest wall perforator flaps, mammoplasties, breast reconstruction, along with important oncology updates and plenty of practical “tips and tricks” across all aspects of breast cancer surgery.

It was a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues and take away practical advice that will directly shape my practice back at .

Well done to the team and faculty for putting together such a fantastic agenda.

Had the pleasure of teaching and viva-ing candidates on the Doctors Academy FRCS course in Breast and General Surgery this weekend at the Royal Liverpool Hospital.

Always good to support the next generation of surgeons and courses like this are a great way to stay sharp on the latest evidence and keep you on your toes!

Thanks to Prof Stuart Enoch and the rest of team at Doctors Academy inviting me and for organising such a well-run course.

It was a pleasure to attend the Oncoplastic Breast Surgery TIG Meeting in Liverpool today, held in the fabulous Lutyens Crypt.

A brilliant opportunity to connect with consultant and trainee breast and plastic surgeons from across the country.

Topics included approaches to breast-conserving surgery, the role of autologous reconstruction in collaboration with plastic surgeons, and a fantastic discussion of complex cases in the Oncoplastic MDT that provided valuable learning for everyone.

Well done to Ms Rachel Foster and the team for organising this important event that contributes to improving patient care and promoting inter-specialty collaboration.

It was a pleasure to attend the Association of Breast Surgery Conference 2025 in Birmingham this week.

A brilliant few days packed with learning, lively discussions, and fresh perspectives breast surgery.

I had the opportunity to share some of my own tips on surgical techniques in oncoplastic breast surgery and learnt a lot from others tips too.

It was great to catch up with colleagues and friends (and make new ones along the way).

Always energising to be surrounded by people passionate about improving care for patients.

Great to be back in theatre with my former and mentor, Mr Chandrasekhar in a private theatre list.

Always grateful to keep learning, even as a consultant—picking up new tips and techniques that will also benefit my oncoplastic breast cancer patients.

It was a pleasure to help organise the Warrington and Halton Hospitals ( ) Annual Breast Team Meeting at Park Royal Hotel in Stretton.

The event brought together nearly 40 members of staff from across breast cancer care, including surgery, oncology, radiology, pathology, specialist nursing, theatre staff, and managers.

This was a fantastic opportunity for our multidisciplinary team to connect in person in a relaxed environment to share updates, and collaborate on improving patient care.

A big thank you to our industry sponsors for their support in making this event possible and for all the speakers who presented!

If you say you don’t have time or money to exercise, it’s not a lack of resources—it’s a lack of priority. The truth is, movement doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. A 15-minute walk, bodyweight exercises at home, or stretching in the morning all add up.

Your health is non-negotiable. When you make it a priority, you’ll find the time. Start small, stay consistent, and your future self will thank you.

I had the pleasure of attending the 1st Annual ‘Breast Cancer at the Limits’ Conference, a two-day event held at the lovely Royal College of Physicians in London. Supported by The Lancet, The Lancet Oncology, and industry partners, this meeting brought together a distinguished faculty of global experts to discuss the latest research in both early (surgically treatable) and metastatic cancer.

It was a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues and network and learn from medical, clinical and surgical oncologists.

If you’re thinking of doing ‘Veganuary’ ….then think again…cos you don’t want to start the year being UNHEALTHIER than you already are!

Here are 3 reaons why eating meat give you a long & strong life 😁

1. It has ALL the amino acids you need (unlike plants)

2. It is rich in micronutrients your body can absorb easily

3. It has ZERO anti-nutrients

Here are three health goals for 2025:

1. Eat animal protein every day..don’t do veganuary…don’t go meat free.

2. Lift weights at least once weekly (choose bodyweight/machine/free)…it helps with inflammation, insulin resistance, weight and energy.

3. Eat ‘differently’ to everyone else most of the time…apply the 80/20 rule so that MOST of the time you’re only eating good quality protein and non starchy vegetables with a low quantity of carbs.

The term ‘plant-based’ is misleading, and it’s important to look beyond the label when making food choices.

1️⃣ Plants are NOT more nutritious than animal products.

While plants offer some essential vitamins, minerals, and fibre, they lack certain nutrients like vitamin B12, heme iron, and complete proteins found in animal products.

The honest truth is a ‘meat based’ diet that also plants and provides the most comprehensive nutrition.

2️⃣ Avoiding meat doesn’t reduce your risk of cancer or heart disease.

Research shows that health risks are more about overall diet and lifestyle choices rather than eliminating meat.

Fresh unprocessed meat and animal products are safe!

3️⃣ The label ‘plant-based’ doesn’t automatically make a food healthy. Many so-called ‘plant-based’ products are highly processed, full of additives, and far from nutritious. If it comes in a package with a long list of ingredients…it’s probably best to avoid it!

Be careful of the labels!
