❗Know the signs of meningitis and septicaemia

There has been a rise in the number of meningococcal disease cases in the UK. Meningitis and septicaemia can develop suddenly and progress very quickly so it’s important to know what to look out for.

Symptoms can appear in any order, and some may not appear at all. A rash doesn’t always develop so don’t wait.

Look out for:

➡️a rash that doesn’t fade under a glass
➡️sudden high fever
➡️severe headache
➡️stiff neck, joint and muscle pain
➡️vomiting and diarrhoea
➡️dislike of bright lights
➡️ very cold hands and feet
➡️ seizures
➡️ drowsiness or confusion
➡️ extreme fatigue or difficulty waking
➡️️babies may have a high pitched cry, refuse feeds, or have a bulging soft spot.

If someone is very unwell or showing these symptoms:

✅ call 111 for urgent medical advice
✅call 999 or go to A&E in an emergency.

Trust your instincts, symptoms can worsen quickly.

💙Prostate Cancer Awareness Month💙

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.
Prostate cancer usually develops slowly, so there may be no signs for many years.
However, the chances of developing prostate cancer increase as you get older. Most cases develop in men aged 50 or older and prostate cancer is more common in black men.
If something in your body doesn’t feel right, contact your GP practice, or find more information on prostate cancer. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/prostate-cancer/

🌈 It’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week!

This week, we recognise Neurodiversity Celebration Week, an important opportunity to increase understanding, promote inclusion, and highlight the strengths and contributions of neurodivergent individuals within our community.

Neurodiversity encompasses a range of neurological differences, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette’s syndrome, and others. These differences influence how people think, learn, and experience the world —

At our practice, we are committed to supporting neurodivergent patients and their families by fostering an environment that is respectful, accessible, and inclusive.

💛 This week encourages us all to:
• Increase awareness and understanding of neurodiversity
• Challenge stigma and misconceptions
• Promote supportive and inclusive practices in schools, workplaces, and communities
• Recognise the unique strengths and perspectives neurodivergent individuals bring

⭐If you would like advice, support, or guidance relating to neurodiversity, please contact the surgery. Our team is here to help you access appropriate information and services.⭐
