..but it’s the hidden load that drains us the most.

- The emotional load.
- The pastoral load.
- The “just one quick question” load.
- The behaviour‑spike load.
- The my own kids still need me tonight load.

This time of year is a pressure cooker, and it’s okay if you’re feeling it.

If you’re a teacher, Sundays can feel like a strange mix of:
✨ I need to rest
✨ But I should catch up
✨ ...I don’t have time for either!!

But here’s the reminder we all need:
You’re allowed to take 30 minutes just for you.
- A walk in fresh air.
- A warm cup of tea outside.
- A pause that isn’t crammed between tasks.

Nature is medicine.
Movement is regulation.
Stillness is fuel.

Yes, you can still do the marking afterwards.
But don’t let Sunday disappear into a blur of ‘doing’.

Do one thing today that helps you feel human again. 💛

Why is Teacher Wellbeing Different?

Most wellbeing advice assumes you can “switch off”, take breaks, or leave work at work. Teachers can’t.

The emotional load, decision load and noise load stack up across the day, and your body carries that long after the bell rings.

If you feel more exhausted during term time than after a 10‑mile hike, that’s normal.

Your brain is switching tasks hundreds of times a day.

Your nervous system is responding to constant micro‑stressors.

Your energy isn’t failing — it’s being spent.
I think it’s time we talk honestly about the biological impact of teaching… not just the behaviour of teachers!

Over the past year, The Wellness Equation has been quietly evolving.

What started as 1:1 health coaching has grown into something much more aligned with my background — combining over 20 years as a teacher, a bioscience degree, and professional health coaching to focus on one core question:

👉 How do we support teachers to stay well in the profession long-term, without paying for it with their health or family life?

This term, I’m beginning work with my first school to develop a whole-school staff wellbeing programme, alongside a dedicated internal team. At the same time, I’ve been building an online programme specifically for teachers — designed to support energy and resilience during real school life, not idealised routines.

Both strands are grounded in the same belief:
teacher exhaustion isn’t a personal failing — it’s a predictable response to sustained pressure, and it deserves structured, meaningful support.

No makeup. No pressure. Just movement. Let go of the filters and feel the freedom. 💪🌿

Just a little reminder — if you end up sweaty, red in the face, or a bit out of breath… that’s totally normal! That’s what effort looks like. And it’s something to be proud of.

I’m usually makeup-free, hair up, wearing whatever’s comfy, and just focused on moving my body and feeling good. Because here’s the truth: you don’t need makeup, matching gym gear, or a “perfect” look to work out.
Those things can become barriers. They can make us feel like we’re not “ready” to move unless we look a certain way.

But movement isn’t about appearances—it’s about how you feel. And showing up for yourself is what really counts.

So if someone sees you mid-run or mid-sweat, they’re probably thinking, “Wow, I should get moving too!” Not judging—admiring.

Let go of the pressure. Embrace the effort. You’re doing something amazing for your body and mind. 💥
