🌱 Week One of Roots of Resilience 🌱

This afternoon I had the joy of welcoming our new group for the first week of Roots of Resilience. We began by exploring what resilience really means, before easing into some simple breathing techniques to help us settle and arrive fully.

I wove in a gentle bit of NLP as we reflected on our expectations for the journey ahead — what we hope to see, hear, and feel by the end of week six.

From there, we travelled into our own histories, exploring the roots that have shaped us: the strong, nourishing ones that support us… and the tender, more delicate roots that come from life’s harder moments.

We closed with a soft visualisation, stepping into our own mind gardens — noticing what’s thriving, what might need re‑potting, and what could be lovingly placed on the compost heap to transform into something new.

So many gentle conversations, so much connection. I’m already looking forward to the weeks ahead. With a bit of luck (and a break in this wild Lancashire weather!) we’ll soon be able to wander out into the kitchen garden and make use of that beautiful space.

But for today, staying warm and dry indoors felt just right. 🌧️💚

A busy Monday for me today.
Out with Puddin before breakfast on poo patrol — she’s been a poorly doglet, so keeping a close eye on her.

Then over to Prestwich for the Creative Living music therapy group. Such a joyful space, and it never fails to amaze me how music brings out hidden talents, confidence, and beautiful connections in people.

After that, over to the other side of Manchester to visit a Supported Therapy client… and their gorgeous cat, who entertained us with their zoomies.

Back to the Coach House for two therapy sessions, and finishing the day with Laughter Club — an evening full of wonderfully random laughter that was very much needed.

Now I’m just putting the final touches to Roots for Resilience for tomorrow afternoon.
Huge thank you to for coming to my rescue and drawing me the most fabulous tree.

And some good news to end the day: Puddin is looking a lot brighter tonight.🐾
Thank you to Grandma Linda for popping in on a home visit while I was out working, making sure she was okay.

Feeling grateful, tired, and ready for tomorrow. 🌿💛

✨ The brighter days are on their way! Snowdrops are beginning to pop up and the birds are singing louder in the mornings.

With 22nd January marking the end of the 10 darkest days of the year, I can feel the shift — though winter can feel like a slog, I’ve learned to embrace it. My energy always returns in Spring and Summer, so for now I lean into cosy nights and later evenings when I feel more alive.

🌿 Next week brings plenty to look forward to:

Monday evening: Laughter Club kicks off at 6 pm — a chance to shake off the winter blues with joy and connection.

Tuesday: I’m launching Roots to Resilience, a new nature‑based mindful wellbeing workshop series designed to help us navigate emotional challenges, manage mood shifts, and respond more calmly to everyday stressors.

🍃 Fingers crossed for warmer, drier weather soon so we can make the most of the beautiful garden at the Coach House🌸

Just in from the Coach House after our Connected Minds group. This is a facilitated peer support group for anyone who is neurodiverse or supporting a neurodiverse family member. It was lovely to meet tonight and reconnect after the Christmas break.

It’s a small, friendly group and I always leave with a new nugget of useful information. Tonight we chatted about the trials and tribulations of transitions, how to manage demand avoidance, planting seeds for upcoming events, and remembering that none of us get it right all the time — and that’s okay.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 11th February at 6pm. If you’d like to come along and see what we get up to, please book your free place via the Friends of Rhyddings Park website. It just helps me keep track of numbers (and how many brews we’ll need!).

If you’d like to know more, feel free to drop me a message.

🌟 We’re back tomorrow night! 🌟
After weeks of snow and ice, Laughter Club returns on Monday evening — and we can’t wait to welcome you back for some much‑needed joy and connection.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated in November and December. Together we raised £50, which has now been shared between Friends of Rhydding Park and Papyrus UK. Your kindness really does make a difference.

💬 Coming up this week:
Tuesday at 6pm – Connective Minds Peer Support Group meets in the café.
The kettle will be on at the park from 6pm, and this group is open to anyone who is neurodivergent or supporting a neurodivergent family member. A gentle, welcoming space to connect, chat, and feel understood.

Looking forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new ones as we step into a fresh year of community, warmth, and support

The park looked absolutely magical tonight — golden sunset skies, crunchy snow, the full winter wonderland package. ❄️✨

First day back at work and straight into a full afternoon of sessions… then an early finish because the snow decided Laughter Club was cancelled.

Now I’m home, defrosting, and ready to snuggle up with Puddin — the warmest, fluffiest part of my day. 🐾💛

And tomorrow… fingers crossed the weather and traffic fairies are kind as I venture onto the M66/M60. I’ll take all blessings, charms, and good vibes available. ✨

❄️ Laughter Club Update ❄️
I’ve made the decision to cancel tonight’s Laughter Club. As much as we love a good giggle, it definitely won’t be a laughing matter if anyone ends up slipping on the ice out there.

Stay cosy, stay safe, and we’ll be back together for more laughter next week. 💛
