Introducing Caring with Confidence

At Dignity Funerals, we believe that care doesn’t end with a goodbye - it begins with how we support those who care every day.

That’s why we’ve partnered with Hospice UK to launch Caring with Confidence: a CPD-accredited training programme designed to empower nursing home staff with the tools, insight and emotional resilience needed to support grieving families and residents, and for themselves.

Through free, locally delivered training sessions, we’re helping care professionals feel confident, informed and supported - because no one should feel alone after a death, especially those who care for others.

Today we honour Corporal Ian Plank, Royal Marines, who was tragically killed in action on 31st October 2003 during a Coalition operation in Iraq.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and brothers in arms. 💙

At 102 years old, Sheila Pantin, who was one of the first to enter the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp after WW2, has been granted the Freedom of Harrogate.

Sheila joined the ATS at just 17 and, in 1945, was sent to Bergen-Belsen to care for women and children who had survived unthinkable horrors. “I shall smell that place to this day,” she said. "These poor women.”

Now, nearly 80 years later, Harrogate has honoured her “impossibly difficult work” and lifelong dedication to others. ❤️
