Most people lose fast-twitch muscle by 45. Here’s how to keep yours.

The movements we recommend above? They work.

But they’re also the ones most people avoid in midlife.

Not out of laziness — but because they feel risky.

The solution? Train to train.

Build mobility before you build speed

Align joints before you load them

Go slow before you go fast

Recover like it’s your job

You can’t turn back time.
But you can keep your muscle young.
And that changes everything.

Creatine isn’t just for gym bros.

It’s one of the most studied supplements on the planet — and researchers are calling it a “longevity essential.”

Here’s why it matters as you age:
⚡️ Protects muscle & strength (fights sarcopenia)
🧠 Supports brain health & cognition
💪 Boosts energy + recovery
🦴 May even help bone & heart health

And the truth? At 3–5g a day, it’s safe for most people — despite all the myths about hair loss, kidneys, or “steroids.”

The only people who should be cautious: those with existing kidney issues, or if you’re not sure, check with your doctor first.

More isn’t always better.
In medicine, we dose precisely. In fitness, most of us overdose.

The result? Burnout. Injury. Plateaus.
And ironically, worse progress.

But the science is clear:

30–60 minutes of strength training per week = biggest longevity gains

6×20s sprints = same results for cardiovascular health as 50 minutes steady cardio

2–3 quality sets per lift = maximum strength improvements

👉 Beyond “optimal” is suboptimal.

Train with precision, not punishment.
That’s how you build strength that lasts for decades.

Exciting news at STILL_!

We’re delighted to welcome .ali_khan786 as our new intern. He’ll be supporting us on an exciting new data analysis project (more details coming soon).

Aki is entering his 3rd and final year of Biomedical Science at Royal Holloway, University of London, where he has achieved first-class results in both his first and second years. For his final year, he will be working on a bioinformatics project exploring ionotropic glutamate receptor protein function.

He has a strong interest in cancer research, NGS, drug discovery, and health optimisation, and aspires to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry.

Outside of academia, Aki enjoys fitness, hiking, and travelling.

We’re excited to have him on board and can’t wait to see the impact he’ll make during his time with us. Welcome, Aki!

Even The Fit Can Improve

Jamie came to the programme strong. With a VO2 Max of 50 and a Marathon in his sights. But inflammation from colitis was silently working against him:

Digestive issues. Bloating. Systemic strain. Pelvic tilt skewing his stride. Upper body weak from years of endurance training.

On the outside, he looked ready. But his biological age said otherwise.

We focused first on calming the gut:
Dialed-in nutrition. Tailored supplements.

We didn’t expect full remission during marathon prep — the training load was heavy. But we aimed to hold the line.

The Result

He did more than hold it. His colitis flares eased — even during his usual danger months. Nutrient absorption improved and inflammation dropped.

His frame settled and his running form became more fluid.

Strength climbed while fat dropped.

And he finished that marathon in 3:34 — 34 minutes faster than before.
In heat. Under pressure. With control.

He’s not just pleased.
He’s changed.

We almost didn’t share case. Not because it isn’t true — but because it sounds too far from average.

But her numbers are real. So is the effort behind them. And they’re not just good “for her age.” They’re remarkable, full stop.

How many 62-year-olds can do 40 full push-ups?

How many 39-year-olds can?

Before she started the programme Debbie was thinking of moving house to one without stairs as her knee was too painful to get up and down them, and a smaller garden, as she couldn’t manage her larger one anymore.

Now she’s sprinting.
