At The Little Acupuncture Room, we don’t just treat symptoms — we support the whole child.

This beautiful quote from our founder, Rebecca Avern, sums up why Chinese medicine is such a powerful system for paediatrics. It allows us to see each child as a whole person, not just a diagnosis.

Whether it's sleep, anxiety, digestion or emotional wellbeing, our care is always centred around your child — their story, their rhythm, and their unique needs.

You can book your child in to see the team easily and online. Simply head to our online booking page: https://yourclinic.care/practice/the-little-acupuncture-room/?view=true

At The Little Acupuncture Room, our mission is simple: to make acupuncture truly accessible to babies, children and teenagers — whatever their family’s financial situation.

💛 We operate on a sliding scale so cost is never a barrier to care.
👩‍⚕️ Children are supported by our team of seven experienced practitioners, ensuring seamless and collaborative treatment.
🛏️ Most sessions take place in a multi-bed space, which children often find reassuring and calming.
📊 We also measure outcomes to track progress and continually improve care.

We believe every child deserves support. If you’re a SENCO or a parent who thinks your child may be eligible for school-referral treatment, please get in touch.

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, The Little Acupuncture Room is no longer at risk of imminent closure. We’re so deeply grateful to each and every one of you who donated, shared, and sent kind words our way 💛

But as a small not-for-profit, we still rely on donations to keep going—to offer low-cost and cost-free acupuncture to children and teenagers across Oxford, especially those from low-income families.

Every pound helps us keep this gentle, effective care accessible to those who need it most.

🙏 If you’d like to support our work, you donation will be gratefully received: https://gofund.me/4c6f2277a

The clocks have changed…Has your child changed too?

You might be noticing:
🌙 Tiredness (even after a full night’s sleep)
💭 Emotional ups and downs
🌀 Restlessness or clinginess
🛌 Trouble winding down in the evenings

These shifts are so common at this time of year. In Chinese medicine, autumn is linked to the Metal element—a time for slowing down, turning inward, and letting go.

Children often feel this seasonal change deeply. Their nervous systems are sensitive to rhythm, light, and transitions.

The best thing we can do as parents?
Soften the pace. Create warmth and steadiness. Trust their cues.

And if your child could use a little more support adjusting—we’re here, still treating, for as long as we can.
Our calm, low-cost Tuesday clinics run until 8pm.

At The Little Acupuncture Room, we see moments like this every week — a child feeling safe, supported and seen. For many families, it’s the first time their child has been able to relax during treatment for their needs. For some, it’s the first time they’ve been able to access treatment at all.

We’ve supported hundreds of children like this across Oxfordshire — with anxiety, chronic pain, trauma, sleep issues, and more. Many of them have come through referrals from local schools or parents who couldn’t afford private care.

But now, we’re at risk of closing.

We’ve lost a key funding stream and need urgent support to stay open. If you believe in accessible, child-centred care — please consider donating or sharing our fundraiser.

Together, we can keep making moments like this possible.

Can you help us stay open?

For 4 years, The Little Acupuncture Room has quietly supported hundreds of babies, children and teenagers across Oxford — many of them referred by schools or families who couldn’t afford private care.

We offer low-cost and free acupuncture in a calm, nurturing space — and we do it because we believe no child should miss out on care due to cost.

But now, we’re at risk of closing.

We’ve lost key funding and urgently need help to keep going. If you can, please:

👉 Donate to our fundraiser https://gofund.me/b2666a032
👉 Share this with friends, family or your school community
👉 Help us keep supporting the children who already rely on us — and the many more still to come

With love and thanks,
The Little Acupuncture Room team

We’re well and truly back in the swing of things after the summer...

It’s been a full and busy few weeks at the clinic, supporting children with a wide range of needs—from back-to-school coughs and colds to anxiety, ADHD symptoms, constipation, and bedwetting.

No two sessions are the same, but our aim is always to meet each child with care, curiosity, and calm.

If your child could do with some support this term, we’re here.

Appointments are available every Tuesday until 8pm.

Today is the Autumn Equinox—a moment of balance between light and dark, day and night.

In Chinese medicine, autumn is a time of letting go, gathering in, and returning to rhythm.
For children, especially after the expansiveness of summer, this seasonal shift can bring changes in energy, emotions, and routines.

You might notice:
🍂 More tiredness or sensitivity
🍵 A craving for warm, comforting foods
🌬️ A natural pull towards quieter, cosier moments

Simple things can help:
✨ Slowing the pace after school
✨ Offering space to rest and recalibrate
✨ Keeping meals warm, grounding and regular

We’re here if your child or teen needs a little extra support adjusting this season—Appointments available Tuesdays until 8pm.

You can book your child in to see the team easily and online. Simply head to our online booking page: https://yourclinic.care/practice/the-little-acupuncture-room/?view=true

This traditional Chinese saying reflects a deep understanding of the body’s natural rhythms—and how food can support energy, focus, and mood throughout the day.

In Chinese medicine, mornings are the time when digestion is strongest, making it the perfect time for warm, nourishing meals to fuel growing bodies and busy minds.

Not sure where to start? Even simple tweaks can help:
– A warm breakfast instead of cold cereal
– Sitting down together, even for 5 minutes
– Offering protein early in the day for stable energy

Every small choice adds up. 💛
