Oxford Aunts Care

Oxford Aunts Care Providing home care throughout a wide area for over 50 years. This is just not true. It is very different with live-in care.

Our reputation is built on high standards of live-in care, local expertise and an approach to care delivery that has been trusted by thousands of families. EXPERIENCED CARERS WHO TRULY GET TO KNOW YOU
We are very proud of our dedicated carers, most of whom have worked for Oxford Aunts for many years. All our carers have previous care experience before they join us and we provide them with comprehensive training before they come and care for you. Our carers will live with you to provide care and support for a longer period than might be offered by other live-in care providers. We know that this gives an opportunity for a strong relationship to be formed and a deeper understanding of our clients’ needs, both of which offer consistency and continuity of care. EXCEPTIONAL SPECIALIST CARE OF COMPLEX CONDITIONS
Unlike other local live-in care providers we are experts in providing specialist care of complex conditions that affect older people including dementia, Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis (MS), or for those recovering from a stroke or for those who need cancer care or palliative care. All our carers are experienced in the care of conditions so you can be assured that care is highly personalised to your specific needs. THE HOME YOU LOVE IS BEST FOR PERSONALISED ONE-TO-ONE CARE
Many families in Oxfordshire, and throughout the country believe the only choice they have when a family member or loved one needs care is that they must leave their much-loved home and move into a care home. The Live-in Care Hub conducted a survey in 2017 and found that 97% of people given the choice, would prefer to carry on living in their own home with the support of a carer. Live-in care is becoming better understood and popular as a real alternative to moving into a residential home. With live-in care provided by Oxford Aunts you can be assured of a high-quality live-in care service provided by a trusted and established provider – a service that has benefited many families for many years. There are countless life-enriching benefits to staying at home with a highly trained and experienced carer who is dedicated to you, instead of facing the upset and worry of moving into a care or nursing home. With an Oxford Aunts carer you will be able to live life your way with as much independence as possible, with a tailored plan of care delivered by a compassionate carer on a one-to-one basis – this just simply cannot be offered in a care home. Life in a care home can be very restrictive – you will have little choice as to when you get up, when you eat your meals and when you can have visitors and socialise. We have been helping our clients to continue to live with freedom and choice that means they can lead a better quality of life with all the support they need. A FULLY MANAGED SERVICE PROVIDES PEACE OF MIND
At Oxford Aunts we know how worrying it can be when organising long term care – we just want our loved one to receive the best care and live a good life. When choosing a live-in care provider, you have a choice as to whether you use an introduction agency or fully managed service provider like Oxford Aunts. Our fully managed and regulated live-in care service means our carers are directly employed and managed by us whilst they are caring for you. They are supported by a care management team made up of care experts who ensure they are supervised and supported to provide the high standards of care our clients should expect. If you use an introduction agency you will be left to manage the carer, pay them and organise holiday cover once you are introduced to them and they start to care for you. For the many families that Oxford Aunts supports, we know this provides lots of reassurance whilst removing the burden of having to carefully manage the care arrangement for their family member or loved one.

Who is hourly care for? 🏡

Hourly care is for anyone who requires temporary or occasional assistance with daily living activities, but does not need round-the-clock care.

If you are:

• In need of a helping hand around your home so that you can live more independently.

• Recovering from an illness or injury and you need assistance with activities such as light housekeeping, mobility support or medication management.

• Are living with a complex condition and could benefit from expert nurse-led support.

• Looking for a friendly companion to provide companionship and emotional support.

• The family or friend of someone with cognitive or memory impairments, such as dementia, that needs assistance with the tasks of daily living.

Then hourly care could be just for you.

Whatever your circumstances – we provide high-quality, hourly home care visits that evolve with changing needs, so the right care is in place, at the right time.

or World Stroke Day 2025, we wanted to shine a light on the incredible role that home care plays during recovery 💚

At Oxford Aunts, we know that rehabilitation is about more than medical treatment. It’s about offering compassion, and finding comfort and independence in the place that matters most – home.

Whether we’re supporting daily routines, mobility exercises, or simply offering encouragement when it’s needed most, we’ve seen first-hand the difference care makes in recovery.

Today, let's raise awareness and show support for survivors and carers. We believe that with the right support, stroke survivors can continue to live well at home.

There are countless benefits to having a high-quality live-in care service when compared to moving into a care or nursing home.

One-to-one care just cannot be provided in any care home setting. One carer will typically be looking after 4-6 other residents, with very different needs so cannot solely focus on you. Whilst a visiting home carer can provide one-to-one care, the time they are afforded when they visit does not always allow for the level of care you will receive with live in care. A live in carer will be flexible to your needs and wishes, promoting independence, dignity and choice.

Our Story

Live-in care means you have a dedicated carer living with you at home. Older people benefit hugely - mentally and physically - from staying at home as opposed to residential care. It means they remain in familiar surroundings, amongst favourite possessions, perhaps in the family home, with a much-loved pet, or close to family and friends. Oxford Aunts Care is a specialist company that provides nurse-led, live-in homecare. Our name is synonymous with delivering trustworthy, cost-effective and high quality care. We have nearly half a century’s experience of live-in care and have built an excellent reputation. We work hard to maintain high standards of care. We are regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Oxford Aunts is also a founder member of The Live-in Homecare Information Hub and the UK Homecare Association (UKHCA) and has nearly 50 years’ experience providing live-in services. Generally, live-in carers will help with: mobility and personal safety, personal care, managing medication, shopping and cooking, housework, pet care, personal administration, driving and accompanying on outings, appointments and social activities. As well as the general care and support outlined, we can provide live-in services for more complex requirements, for people who have: • Dementia • Post-operative/convalescent or respite needs • Special communication needs • Sensory loss • Complex health care needs • Stroke • Palliative care needs • End of life care needs • Neurological conditions • Sudden onset conditions e.g. brain injury • Intermittent/unpredictable conditions e.g. MS • Progressive conditions e.g. early onset dementia • Stable neurological conditions e.g. cerebral palsy • Cardiac conditions • Respiratory conditions. We are not able to provide services to clients with spinal injury.
