👐🏻It’s been a busy Treatment Tuesday after the Abingdon Marathon — lots of tired legs enjoying well-earned recovery time!

But as we head into the colder months and coughs, colds (and covid) start doing the rounds, please remember 👇🏻

❌ If you’re feeling under the weather — coughing, blowing your nose, on antibiotics, or recovering from any kind of infection — please reschedule your appointment.

Whether it’s with me or another therapist, it’s the right thing to do. 👍🏻

Here’s why:

1️⃣ Massage will actually make you feel worse — it speeds up circulation and can spread infection faster.
2️⃣ It’s unfair on the next person coming in — many clients are post-surgery or have compromised immune systems.
3️⃣ And finally, it’s considerate to your therapist (hi 👋🏻) — self-employed and hands-on, which means no sick pay and no treatments if I catch your cold!

Let’s all look after ourselves and each other this winter

✉️Every now and then, a message pops up that truly makes your day. This one came from a client I coached a few years ago, who has since moved back to Spain — and just look at her now 👏🏻

After taking some time away (because life happens!), she found her way back to training, reconnected with that feeling of strength and confidence, and even made it onto the podium at her local gym games! 🥈🔥

💪🏻 Top 5 Questions I Get Asked as a Coach
No. 1 — “Won’t lifting weights make me bulky?”

💭 For all the women out there worrying about turning into She-Hulk — here’s your friendly reminder from someone whose actual goal is to get bigger…

👉🏻 It’s really, really hard to do.

You don’t wake up one morning with quads that don’t fit your jeans — trust me, I’ve tried 😅

But let’s not focus on what lifting won’t do.
Let’s talk about what it will give you ⬇️

✨ Muscle density.
You’ll feel firmer, tighter, and stronger — not bulky.
And lifting will probably give you the shape you’re actually chasing, more than hours on the treadmill ever will.

🫀 Overall health.
Strength training has now been shown to be just as effective as cardio for keeping your heart and lungs ticking over — and when you combine both, that’s a recipe for long-term health that truly lasts.

Resistance training improves focus, mood, and memory — lifting weights literally makes your brain stronger.

👟 These trainers have never seen the outside of the gym — and that’s just how I like it 😅

I don’t do running… but I do treat runners. And it’s that time of year again — trail and cross-country season is kicking off with many of my clients racing this weekend 🌳🏃🏻 🏃‍♀️🌲

🏅It’s also the last of the big local autumn events coming up — with the Oxford half and Royal Parks (for those travelling to London) next weekend, and the Abingdon Marathon the week after.

Wishing everyone the best of luck — enjoy the carb loading, trust your training, and soak up every mile 🙌🏻

💬 Can we talk about this? It’s a hot topic on my stories and feed right now…

🔁 Cycle syncing has been spun as yet another way to keep women small — to perpetuate the idea that we should limit what we lift and hold ourselves back. The idea that for two weeks you can “train” and for two weeks you should stick to Pilates and deep breathing? Nah. 🚫

🩸 Yes, periods can be uncomfortable and for some women even crippling. Yes, hormonal fluctuations may mean your leggings feel tighter and your belly pops out a bit more. Yes, your energy may dip and your body may actually need an extra two hours in bed instead of going to the gym. All of these things are true…

✨ But what is also true is that symptoms differ for every woman. Your cycle doesn’t make you “less than.” You can still lift. You can still show up. You just might not hit the same numbers every session — and that’s okay.

💡 And while we’re here — let’s talk about that little lower belly bump that so many of us stress about.

‼️It’s the number one thing new female clients ask me: “Is there an exercise I can do to get rid of this?” They’re often disappointed when my answer is “no.” But I always follow up with education: while you can’t spot-reduce, you can reduce overall body fat which may make it smaller. More importantly, that bump is a sign of health and protection — and it’s completely normal.

So let’s stop subscribing to the latest thing socials sell, and start owning what we know is true for each of us as individuals. 👊🏻
