I’m not. And neither (sorry if this is a shock), are you.

Every single one of us is different in an infinite number of ways. So, who can ever be normal?

Normal may feel like the safe middle ground, the reassurance of the mainstream, but it’s at best superficial and fragile.

Who you really are, is not normal at all.

Dig deep into the depths of your complexity and nuance and you will find what makes you unique, extraordinary, and anything but normal. What is safe and superficial, is not what makes you spectacular!

So be normal if you like, but don’t forget there is so much more to you than that.

Do we have to have goals to make progress and be successful?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

If you don’t have a personal goal, or you can’t crystallise one, don’t worry, because goals aren’t for everyone.

If you thrive on the clarity and direction a goal can bring, that’s great, but some people can get overwhelmed by trying to pin it down, or we fragment our focus trying to achieve too much.

The only pre-requisite to personal progress is the ability to self-reflect. How do you feel today? And how do you want to feel tomorrow?

Focusing on how you feel is perfectly enough to make progress towards a happier and more fulfilled life.

What makes you feel safe?

Most of us in the UK are lucky enough to live in relative physical safety. When we feel physically safe, our emotional safety becomes increasingly important.

With emotional safety, comes the ability to be authentic, act in our integrity and to push the boundaries of our capabilities. We will never feel truly, deeply happy unless we feel emotionally safe.

Each of us will have an individual repertoire of what makes us feel emotionally safe. For me, I need moments to myself, to reflect and ground.

What is in your toolkit, that helps you feel emotionally safe?

How did you move today? Did you move like the women you want to be?

Did you walk with your head held high?

Did you swim, cycle, dance?

Did you sit in sacred stillness to reconnect to who you are and what you want?

Move like the most positive expression of who you are, and become who you want to be.

What does a typical life include?

A typical life is a bit of a mix. The good times, the bad times, the highs, the lows, the happy and the sad and the incredibly indifferent. Life is rich with a multitude of experiences.

We know this on a logical level. But, nonetheless, when we come up against discomfort we panic. We want to escape it, numb it, avoid it.

There are two steps to dealing better with discomfort:

FIRSTLY: Normalise it – it’s no reflection on you if things are tough, it’s part of life.

SECONDLY: Know you’ve got you – discomfort demands more care for ourselves, not less! Love yourself more, nourish yourself more, treat yourself more. In moments of hardship treat yourself like a queen.

Have you had a moment today that you have loved?

A moment that you fully relished and enjoyed, appreciated in all its gorgeousness?

Most of life is not spent falling in love. Most of it is not spent on adventurous escapes or luxurious retreats. Most of it isn’t spent celebrating or indulging. Most of life is pretty normal.

If you don’t love your day to day normal – this is your cue to make a change. The only way to love life, is to love it in the day to day – so what can you do tomorrow that you love?

Today is a day to take stock and celebrate YOURSELF,

AND the nourishing and supportive relationships that give you freedom and encouragement to be yourself.

So take a moment to consider, so far, in 2023…

- How have you lived that makes you proud?
- Who has supported you, that you are grateful for?

Its only Wednesday, and this week I am already hugely grateful for these incredible women…

As a baby, you felt comforted by the care of others. As an adult, how often do you feel comforted by care?

As adults we are not taught how to care for ourselves. We are not taught that its allowed, acceptable, important to invest in ourselves and care for ourselves with the attention and energy we would care for someone else, particularly as women.

Looking after yourself, physically, mentally and emotionally means nourishing the gift you are here to share with the world… you.

Everyone experiences fear. How it feels is as unique as a fingerprint, and the same for how it looks.

Fear will crop up for all of us, during moments of growth, moments of love, moments of anticipation. Fear is intrinsic to life.

We can live happier and more fulfilling lives the moment we shift our mindset around fear.

STOP numbing, ignoring it, dwelling on it, as all these exacerbate it.

START accepting it, acknowledging it, even expecting it. It’s the most normal feeling in the world.

Fear is human, so are you. When we stop being afraid of it, know it will happen, and know we can care for ourselves whatever the consequences, we can start truly living.
