Drum & Bass. Trance. Techno. House. Garage.

If you’re someone who loves this kind of music, here’s why....

It’s not just chaos and high tempo. It’s PREDICTABLE chaos.
And your nervous system loves predictable rhythm.

That fast, steady beat gives your body something consistent to organise around. The repetition. The build. The drop. The release.

It’s structured intensity, which means your nervous system can experience activation without actual threat.

And that’s powerful because most of us don’t struggle with activation.

We struggle with not knowing how to move through it. But this type of music lets you:
• Feel adrenaline without danger
• Discharge stress through movement
• Sync your body to something bigger than your thoughts
• Come out the other side clearer, lighter, and steadier.

It’s not about “calming down.” It’s about expanding your capacity. Training your nervous system to say:
“I can feel this much… and I’m still safe.”

Regulation doesn’t always look like soft music and deep breathing.
Sometimes it looks like a fat bassline and sweaty dancing!

So, if you’ve always been drawn to this type of music, it may be because your nervous system likes having somewhere safe to put all that energy 🎶🎶

It wasn’t just “going out.”

Those nights we spent dancing our arses off were doing something to our nervous systems that we didn’t have the language for at the time.

The rhythm.
The repetition.
The predictable sensory input.

We were regulating through connection.
Through bassline.
Through space to express freely.

No judgement.
No analysing.
Just one purpose — to have a bloody good time!

A sense of silliness & fun is often the missing ingredient to most conventional "wellness" practices. NOT ON MY WATCH! 👀

Remember those early school discos when you just danced with your little buddies, completely untarnished by the fear of what it looked like?
THAT'S HEALING IN MOTION!

Try it and FEEL those feel-good hormones kick in! 🤪

It was a LOT but it made sense to my brain 😅

Any neuro scientists out there that can help me translate into plain English??! 😅😅

I can always tell when I’m coming back online 🙌

I crave upbeat tunes and my body wants to move again 💃

Wintering is real.
The lower mood, the inward pull, the “I don't wanna people" phase. And even when you teach this stuff, it doesn't provide immunity from the grey.

The shift isn’t a dramatic "I'M BAAACK". It’s more subtle than that.

It’s feeling the need for more upbeat, higher tempo tunes.

It’s feeling the need to put your feet on the floor & move again.....probably intermittently for now.

Coming out of a funk isn’t about forcing high vibes.
It’s about noticing when your body starts giving you the nudge....,“Okay… we’re ready", and following it.

Put a tune on - see what happens 😉

Just sayin' 😉Now go get your chooons on! 🎶💃

A new analysis shows that moving to music with others can be a powerful way to ease symptoms of depression. Unlike walking or yoga, dance engages the brain in a unique “neurochemical symphony,” blending physical activity with joy, connection, and self-expression. Here's why it helps and how to harness it, according to experts: https://on.natgeo.com/4cgaQxw

3 More Truths About Nervous System Regulation:

You can catch the first 6 on my page.

Your nervous system isn’t just reacting to what’s happening today. It’s responding to your whole life.

Regulation isn’t a personal failure or a skill issue.
It’s not about being calm all the time or never feeling overwhelmed.

It’s your body’s ability to move through stress
and then find its way back.

Your nervous system is constantly asking:
“Am I safe enough right now?”
And it answers that based on:
• pressure
• rest (or lack of it)
• finances
• work stress
• your home environment
• constant noise and stimulation
• whether you feel supported or alone

Your body doesn’t separate emotional stress from “real” stress.

If you’ve had to be strong, hold it together, or push through for a long time,
your nervous system adapts to survive.
That might look like being constantly wired and tense
or exhausted, flat, and disconnected.
Both are protective and both are your body trying to help.

Regulation isn’t about forcing calm.
It’s about gently teaching your body that it’s safe to soften.
And if your nervous system feels overwhelmed or shut down, you are not broken.
Your body has been working really hard to get you through.
