Today Louise told me
“I’m not much of a talker, but I do like to listen… and I get bored easily!”
Ok Challenge accepted
Out came the Boots memory box and memory spotlight box, which sparked plenty of chat (so much for not being a talker ). We then cracked on with a puzzle, before long Louise launched into singing hymns like she was headlining the Lavender Court arena
Alexa was promptly summoned and a hymn playlist followed, boredom officially defeated,
And because no good day is complete without a bit of self-care, Louise also enjoyed having her nails done 💅
Memories, music, laughter and lovely nails — now that’s how we do person-centred care 😊

🥃Burns Night at Lavender Court 🥃
Burns Night was well and truly celebrated at Lavender Court!
Residents enjoyed (well some were braver than others) sampling haggis, sipping Irn-Bru, and of course a little shortbread on the side. The afternoon was filled with laughter, conversation and plenty of smiles.
A special thank you to Roland, who joined us in his full Highland attire, delivering the Address to the Haggis — which certainly proved to be a highlight and brought a lot of extra cheer to the room!
A wonderful afternoon of tradition, togetherness and enjoyment
Let’s just say… the haggis wasn’t the only thing that got a lot of attention 👀😄

A Lovely Morning of Bird Feeder Making 🐦
Today we enjoyed a wonderful, hands-on activity, making homemade bird feeders using lard and bird seed. It was such a calm and enjoyable time, sitting together, chatting, and sharing stories about the birds we often see around us.
We spoke about garden visitors, countryside memories, and after much discussion it was unanimously agreed that the Robin is our favourite bird.
Activities like this are about so much more than crafting — they encourage conversation, connection, reminiscence, and a real sense of togetherness. Now we can’t wait to watch our feathered friends enjoy the feeders we’ve made.
A simple activity, but a very special one. 😊

🌸 Supporting Well-Being & Independence 🌸
Today Thelma enjoyed a calm and meaningful moment planting her Hyacinth. This was a truly person-centred activity, supporting both her well-being and independence. With only minimal guidance, Thelma completed most of the planting herself, taking pride in each step of the process.
Gardening activities like this help promote confidence, purpose, and a sense of achievement, while also offering relaxation and gentle stimulation. It was lovely to see Thelma so focused and content, enjoying the independence to do something for herself 🌱
We now look forward to watching her Hyacinth grow — a beautiful reminder of how small moments can have a big impact on well-being 💐

We are recruiting for two part time Housekeepers.
You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness within the beautifully located home in Perranporth, working closely with other members of the team.
Your key duties in this role will include vacuuming, mopping, polishing and general up-keep of all communal areas and our residents' bedrooms.
You will keep accurate records on our cleaning schedule and you will maintain housekeeping stocks for day to day use and raise any issues to the Manager, as you go.
You will take real pride in ensuring your work is always completed to the highest standard. We pride ourselves on recruiting honest individuals and who share our core values therefore, you will enjoy creating an environment that's well maintained, making sure our residents are comfortable and feel well looked after.
You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a united team in addition to a trustworthy, patient and compassionate nature and a belief in giving your personal best at all times and striving for continuous improvement.
Job Type: Part time, Permanent
Salary: £12.21 p/h
Expected hours: 15 per week on a 4 week rota 13.00 - 18.00

Wednesday 1- 6pm
Friday 1-6pm
Sunday 8am till 1pm
