With Chinese New Year on the calendar this week, some of our homes were keen to usher in the .

Willowbank residents got involved with a course of Chinese trivia and sampled some delicious food from across the region too.

A Fire Horse year is regarded as being fast paced, with the last one taking place in 1966 during the time of China's cultural revolution.

But yes, back at the home, the team put on an impressive spread!

Passport mode activated, en route pour Paris! ๐ŸŽซโœˆ๏ธ

Everybody at Antiquary care home in Arbroath enjoyed a virtual date in the City of Light over Valentine's weekend. The latest in a series of 'armchair travel' trips!

They ate croissants, drank champagne (more nozeco!๐Ÿฅ‚), enjoyed music from the city, learned some of the local dialect and generally had a lovely time. ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿฅ

Teams across our homes pulled out all the stops to host special Valentineโ€™s lunches over the past few days, including Stormont Lodge in Blairgowrie. โค๏ธ

Each resident was gifted a crocheted red rose as a keepsake, lovingly handmade by Senali from the team. Donโ€™t they look superb? ๐ŸŒน

Everyone received a bag of heart sweeties too, plus a card from the home. Whatโ€™s more, they enjoyed a special Valentineโ€™s meal of, Tomato Soup, Hunter's Chicken and chocolate dipped strawberries. A cheeky wee glass of Nozecco was had with dinner too.

These are just a few snaps from a wonderful day.

BCG Lisden in Kirriemuir threw a wonderful lunch for residents, who were lovingly joined by some of their partners and family for the occasion.

The Activities Team tell us: โ€œWe thoroughly enjoyed our home baked cakes, tea and a cheeky rose wine. Followed by decorating some lovely ginger bread hearts and cards.โ€

Sometimes the zoo can come to you! We had some very special visitors at BCG Coupar Angus this week when a mobile petting zoo from Dundee came to visit.

๐Ÿฆ”๐Ÿข The lovely team from Edenโ€™s Garden stopped by with an adorable crew of animals, including rabbits, chinchillas, a hedgehog, tortoises, guinea pigs, skinny pigs, and even a lizard. ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿน

As you can see, the residents absolutely loved meeting them all. As for the team? Our manager, Kirsty, wanted to take a skinny pig home!

From shooting hoops to choir practice, last week was another fun-packed fantastic one for residents at North Grove in Perth. ๐Ÿ€๐ŸŽค

They enjoyed plenty of lively group games, and were put through their paces with an armchair exercise session.

This season of Vocal Chord at Perth Concert Hall has also begun (pictured here is the wonderful Betty in her element), with everyone learning some wonderful new songs.

At the latest Menโ€™s Club gathering, everyone got stuck into a carโ€‘themed quiz, which went down a treat.

Residents also took part in dominoes and bingo, and got creative using felt and feathers to craft some beautiful artwork. And of course, our lovely therapet Lulu popped in for a visit, bringing smiles all around! ๐Ÿพ

Our Story

As we get older, we all have our own specific care and support needs. Here at Balhousie Care, our team is passionate about delivering the highest quality care and support to our residents, ensuring that our homes really are a 'home-from-home'. โ€˜The Balhousie Wayโ€™ is our own little term which describes the way in which we like to run our homes. Always with care at our core, always with our residents in mind. We treat all of our residents as individuals and appreciate that each one is unique, with different likes, dislikes, needs and care requirements. Each of our twenty-five care homes reflect this and aim to cater for the specific care needs of every resident. Our nursing, care and support staff are our core, they're what makes us tick as an organisation. They are on the front line of contact with our residents; always there, providing genuine care, no matter what. It is impossible to measure their contribution to our organisation and without them, we simply could not function.
