What a lovely day at our Forth View Care Home in Methil. No room for January blues!

Our residents began the morning with a bit of relaxing painting (here's Alex doing exactly that), then spent time planting seeds and enjoying a few games of dominoes.

Later on, they headed over to the Rainbow Group for a cuppa, some delicious homemade cakes, and a cheerful sing‑along where they joined in classics ranging from Abba to the Temptations to finish the day. 🎶

A perfect mix of creativity, fun, and community spirit. Smashing! 💙

Our homes celebrated with a series of glorious suppers this past weekend. In addition to the customary feast of haggis, neeps and tatties, and tributes to the bard – from pipers and highland dancers, folk singing and poem recitals – we added a wee decorative memento.

This year, with the help of our friends at Strathmore Woollen Co in Forfar, we wanted to share something a little different and specifically for Burns’ Night: not exactly the Bard’s ‘Red, Red Rose’, but our own version, to decorate our homes' Burns’ gatherings.

Happy 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

BCG Lisden in is one of our first homes to toast Robert Burns and pay tribute this year.

Residents, their relatives and the team were joined by entertainer Just George for a brawsome celebration, with Scottish songs old and new and of course a recital of some of the Bard's legendary work.

The kitchen cooked up a scrumptious feast of haggis bon bons, and a haggis, neeps and tatties bowl that went down a treat.

Also on show were some wonderful tartan roses, especially created for the event in our own custom tartan and given to every BCG home. More on those tomorrow!

Our Rumbling Bridge residents continue their winter adventures with a fantastic trip to see the Kelpies! ♘♘

The mini‑bus was filled with excited travellers ready for a day out. Everyone enjoyed a gentle stroll around the incredible sculptures before heading into the Kelpies Café to warm up with a hot lunch and plenty of tea and coffee.

A wonderful way to round off a busy week. So many smiles, so much laughter, and lots of happy memories made.

Out with - we do

It's all cosy January vibes at Rumbling Bridge Nursing Home: Billy the Kid on the Tiny Tablet, new fans of Hungry Hippos, puzzles, knitting, Kerplunk and some very competitive dominoes.

Then, Activities Coordinator Amie took two of the gents on a wee adventure. They’d been chatting about the Forth Bridge, so wrapped up warm and headed out to see the three bridges. Always well worth the stunning view.

No dolphins around, but the explorers thawed out in a lovely pub with coffee and a massive pastry.

Warm company, great outing. Next stop, the Kelpies!

As we get older, we all have our own specific care and support needs. Here at Balhousie Care, our team is passionate about delivering the highest quality care and support to our residents, ensuring that our homes really are a 'home-from-home'. ‘The Balhousie Way’ is our own little term which describes the way in which we like to run our homes. Always with care at our core, always with our residents in mind. We treat all of our residents as individuals and appreciate that each one is unique, with different likes, dislikes, needs and care requirements. Each of our twenty-five care homes reflect this and aim to cater for the specific care needs of every resident. Our nursing, care and support staff are our core, they're what makes us tick as an organisation. They are on the front line of contact with our residents; always there, providing genuine care, no matter what. It is impossible to measure their contribution to our organisation and without them, we simply could not function.
