๐Ÿš Residents of Stormont Lodge in Blairgowrie recently enjoyed another of their popular monthly bus outings, setting off on a leisurely tour through some truly stunning local countryside.

Spirits were high as the group relaxed and took in the everโ€‘changing scenery that Perthshire has to offer, around Coupar Angus, Balbeggie and Luncarty. A fantastic wee trip.

The second annual duck race recently took place within the grounds of Stormont Lodge Care Home in Blairgowrie, drawing smiles from residents, the team and visitors alike.

Although the weather was dreich, spirits remained high, proving that a little rain was no match for team Stormontโ€™s humour and determination.

An army of brightly coloured ducks was released down a specially prepared tarpaulin course, with the crowd cheering them on towards the finish line. After a closely contested race, three winning ducks emerged victorious, with Susan, Liam and Dawn claiming prizes.

The funโ€‘filled event once again provided an enjoyable afternoon for everyone involved and has quickly become a muchโ€‘loved tradition!

Activities Coordinator, Kennedy, shared: โ€œWe were delighted to welcome Lunar Eclipse Therapy Horses to the home. We were visited by Mollyโ€‘Moo the miniature Shetland pony and Teddy the American miniature horse, and it was a really special hour for everyone involved.โ€

The visit proved to be an uplifting experience. Here's a few photos of some precious moments.

Care Createsโ€ฆ Connection through investing in technology

BCG homes use large-format interactive touch tables to support digital inclusion, sensory, cognitive and digital stimulation and modern activity design.

These mobile, height-adjustable devices allow residents โ€“ including wheelchair users โ€“ to explore sensory apps, memory tools, music, quizzes, learning resources and even live webcams, creating richer engagement for individuals and groups.

Our Coupar Angus care home's residents recently took in a mini musical in the comfort of their own home last week when Cat's Pyjamas came to visit.

Activities Coordinator, Louisa, tells us: "Carole from Cat's Pyjamas Productions is always a huge hit with the residents! Her fantastic voice and dance numbers, along with her costume changes keep residents engaged and feeling like they're out at a show.

"This time, Carole took us on a journey through the music of Hollywoodโ€™s golden age from Doris Dayโ€˜s The Black Hills of Dakota to Audrey Hepburnโ€˜s Moon River.

"We saw a recreation of the iconic Marilyn Monroe dress moment and learnt all about Marni Nixon, the real singing voice of many leading ladies.

"Carole's events really stick in our residents' memories and always have them discussing days later. She travels all the way up from Yorkshire and pops in to perform when she is visiting family in Scotland."

From garden makeovers and sensory rooms to specialised staff training, community events and wellbeing programmes, we invest meaningfully in environments, technology and resources that help people thrive and make life richer and more meaningful.

When we invest in social care, we create value far beyond the service itself.

โœจ Stronger communities
โœจ Better outcomes for people and families
โœจ Support for the NHS and wider system

At BCG, we see this every day - which is why weโ€™re proud to support , shining a light on the positive impact of social care across Scotland.

We had smiles, laughter and plenty of chocolate this Easter as our residents enjoyed a calendar full of seasonal fun! From themed crafts and games to special treats, the highlight was of course a wee surprise visit from the Easter Bunny. ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ’

These moments brought joy, sparked memories and created a wonderful opportunity to celebrate as communities. Thank you to our dedicated teams for making Easter so special for everyone involved.

These are just a few of our snaps from our Wheatlands, Antiquary and St Ronan's care homes - all united in their efforts!

Our Story

As we get older, we all have our own specific care and support needs. Here at Balhousie Care, our team is passionate about delivering the highest quality care and support to our residents, ensuring that our homes really are a 'home-from-home'. โ€˜The Balhousie Wayโ€™ is our own little term which describes the way in which we like to run our homes. Always with care at our core, always with our residents in mind. We treat all of our residents as individuals and appreciate that each one is unique, with different likes, dislikes, needs and care requirements. Each of our twenty-five care homes reflect this and aim to cater for the specific care needs of every resident. Our nursing, care and support staff are our core, they're what makes us tick as an organisation. They are on the front line of contact with our residents; always there, providing genuine care, no matter what. It is impossible to measure their contribution to our organisation and without them, we simply could not function.
