At some point in our lives, we all experience the loss of someone. A parent, relative, friend, neighbour, colleague or a child. Grief can bring a range of thoughts and emotions that are often difficult to understand or express. There’s no timeline for grief and no right or wrong way to feel.

If you are finding things hard just now, there are organisations to support you:

Cruse Scotland is the national organisation offering help to anyone in Scotland who is dealing with loss. You can call them on 0808 802 6161 from 9am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and from 10am to 2pm, Saturday and Sunday. Their grief chat service is also available on their website at www.crusescotland.org.uk

The Neuk Mental Health Crisis and Su1cide Prevention Centre is a local organisation based in Perth, offering compassionate, professional support to help you. Their team is here to walk alongside you, helping you find ways to live with your loss. You can call them on 07916 292603, from 9am to 9pm everyday.

I can’t stress this enough. It’s so easy to only see the negative in every day, the harsh words we say to ourselves in our mind…the unfair comparisons…the weight of the daily grind. It takes effort to think positively, but it is so important to look for the glimmers of hope: the smell of your morning coffee… the warmth of the sun on your face on a crisp Autumn morning…the traffic light staying at green…really consciously acknowledge each glimmer and you will begin to notice there are so many in every day, we just have to look for them 🩵.
